Agreed. He's been around the block and knows exactly what's required. He'll also learn more about the players in times of difficulty and poor results, he's no fool.
Cutting edge and ruthlessness is what is missing and he is right to quash the "we're playing good" narrative. It's necessary, not because we aren't playing some lovely football but because the players seem to fall into a lull the way we dominate teams from the off.
You don't win playing better football than the opponent, you win by scoring more goals than them, and the players need to remember that.
There were points in the West Ham game (tbf this is the only game I've felt this way) where I questioned if the players remembered what the aim of the game was. Kulusevski is in my opinion the biggest culprit of this as he doesn't seem to feel the same urgency when he's in a good position to release a pass/cross/shot early
"There’s never going to be a time where it's going to be smooth, not while I’m at the club. Even when things are going well. I'm going to be pushing for us to be better. I'm going to be pushing for us to improve and pushing for us to bring success to this football club. So there's never going to be a time where they can feel any sort of comfort that things are going to run smoothly.
"So the more they embrace this side of it the better and it's a great time for me to be somewhere, apart from the beginnings this is where I'm most alert, not just with the players with the staff, everyone at the football club. How is everyone reacting to this? It gives me a good indicator about what we need to do going forward."
