The ball would've ballooned over the bar if it hadn't hit Koscielny's arm. If that's not handball the rule needs changing.

Oxlade-Chamberlain said he did touch the ball, so Koscielny was offside.
But when you freeze-frame the TV replays it looks more like Ox kicked Koscielny's boot. Not surprised he thinks he touched the ball but he definitely got more of the boot.

Regardless, it's still handball.

Here's an oddity about our results so far this season.

If you compare them to the first 7 matches of last season, we are 5 points ahead of last season's tally.

If you compare them to the corresponding matches last season (Middlesbrough = Norwich City), then not only do we have the same points tally, but every result has been the same:

  • Home wins against Palace, Sunderland & Man City
  • Home draw against Liverpool
  • Away wins against Stoke & Middlesbrough/Norwich
  • Away draw against Everton

Statistically a bit anomalous.

Last season we drew our next match, away to West Brom. Our 8th match was also a draw, away to Swansea.

I don't know it this is borne out by a detailed analysis, but I have had an impression for a while that our results have not only been remarkably similar between this season and last season, but also between the home and away games last season.

We have now drawn against Everton three times in a row, drawn against Liverpool three times in a row, and beaten City three times in a row. We also drew twice last season against both Arsenal and Chelsea.

Of course there have been a fair few results that weren't the same, so it's hard to say whether these repeated results are statistically abnormal.

Lol at the corruption claims, come on lads you're embarrassing yourselves.
Funny how no one questions the integrity of the refs when we get a decision that goes our way.

Funny? What world do you live in?
The very global heads of world football, FIFA, have been saturated with corruption for decades.
You think Fulop-gate and Lasagne-gate were just coincidents?

Take a look at this video from WC 2002.

Fucking hell, why did you have to post that video. 14 years on and I'm still seething. That game just took the biscuit...and I'm a Juve fan. :p

Sky seem to be building the Liverpool v Man U game on MNF as "Red Monday". Surely it should be the "battle for fifth place Monday"?

Nah, I think the current top 4 will be the final top 4, though not necessarily in this order. I'd almost prefer United to win because Liverpool are a bigger threat. But I'd rather massive on-pitch brawls, suspensions galore and points deductions.

Here in Norway it's much worse.
12 fucking hours build up to "the match of the season". 4th place and 6th place playing against each other in round 8...

Somewhere between 70% and 80% of the subscribers are fans of those two clubs though. It's all about selling subscriptions through shameless pandering to the largest supporter groups.

(Plus I work for TV 2 and I need people to subscribe to keep me in the job!)

Both teams will wear black armbands today. Chelsea for Willian's mother and Leicester for the Thai king #cfc #lcfc

Chelsea's midfield today is: Moses, Matic, Kante and Alonso. Pedro and Hazard counted as forwards with Costa up there, too. 3-4-3. They look so weak at the back - Luiz, Cahill and Azpilicueta. Interesting to see how it works out... Leicester have both Vardy and Musa playing. Lots of pace.
