This was a Jose masterpiece tactically.I think Mourinho was putting himself in a no lose situation today, picking a side that would save him face if it lost and he could stand there post match, shrug, smirk and say "yes, our reserve team lost, blah blah" resting players for the Europa etc. But I have to say tactically, he's overseen a pragmatic masterclass there. He made it what Chelsea didn't want it to be, attritional, scrappy, physical; he's played Hazard out of the game, Herrera was outstanding.
Chelsea losing Alonso was major, we know how important a quality FB is in their type of system, and it threw their dynamics out of whack, but even so, ManU did such an effective job on them. At 1-0 I think it could have got squeaky, but once that second goal went in it set it up perfectly for Mourinho to go into Mourinho shell mode, making good tactical changes. Very reminiscent of what he did against us at Wembley.
