Arsenal fans diary of Sunday the 14th of January

Wenger out all day. Forget his past achievements it's in the past

City lose a game. It's all about the invincibles who were in fact managed by Wenger.

They're so fucking weird

Pressed them into errors.

They didn't though. Yes, they pressed but City were sloppy from the start. So many times their players were in acres of space and then randomly popped the ball off to a Liverpool player. Liverpool closed the passing channels well but I'm baffled what City were trying to do. It was last season's City out there today and Liverpool took full advantage of that with some sublime finishing. Fair play.

It's a bit of the Anfield under the lights factor, maybe some of them felt their unbeaten number was up, but mostly Liverpool have outstanding pace upfront and they used it to press superbly, and the rest of the team backed them up.

This season has many twists and turns ahead....

The top 5 are all still in both the Champions League and the FA Cup.

Chelsea and City are still playing in the carabao cup.

A lot to play for. I can't believe the amount of Jessie Worrywarts that came out this evening.

There was definitely something a bit rabbit in the headlights about them.

Liverpool won't be able to contain their load though. It happens every time, they look like world beaters and then conspire to lose or draw a game they were cruising.

We need to do what we did to Madrid. Limit the space behind and hit them on the counter. We can do it. Just need to believe.

Pressed them into errors.

Pressing and City overplaying it when they could have dealt with it, but they tried to play out of it. Honestly watching the goals again both centre backs made howlers and their keeper gifted them another.

They did though, the pressed them better and more intelligently than anyone else had been able to. It wasn’t that simple either, Liverpool’s 433 with Mane and firminho dropping also prevented City getting those midfield overloads that suck players out of shape.

We tried to play them this way but Poch got it horribly wrong.

Yet City still managed to score 3 goals? The Liverpool press was only directly effective with Mane's goal but really Stone's lost him and gave him too much time. Ox's goal was the only one that Liverpool actually crafted on their own. Firminho's goal was all on Stone's getting down up like a kipper and Salah's was a sublime finish from a keeper clearing with his wrong foot. Yes Liverpool done well to get the win but they certainly didn't play City off the pitch.

We didn't have/haven't got the personnel to do it IMO, Poch's mistake was trying it with the players he had.

What was worse was the results he'd got from the Liverpool and Madrid games by doing exactly the opposite - then we go and set ourselves up to get smashed at City.

I hope to God he goes back to the Madrid/Liverpool home strategy when we go to Anfield, or we'll get ripped to shreds there. Again.

I completely agree Bobbins, Poch can get a tune out of our lot, but when Eriksen is your best presser, you’re chancing your arm trying to pull it off away at City. And then he did that daft 442 thing, with a clapped out Dembele and the rooky kid up against their three in midfield, Trippier at Rb. It was a fucking car crash. Poch’s worst tactical debacle of the last couple of years imo. Not only did he have this year’s RM and Liverpool blue prints, he also had last year at City where we got ripped apart for an hour trying similar shit.

I thought to myself Man City just did against Liverpool exactly what we did against Man City.
You're pressed in, try and pass your way out of or in and around your own goal area.
All their own doing.
Fkin stupid.

Watching Liverpool do this, then watching their karmic, inbred, American cousins the Pittsburgh Steelers probably do this directly after is more than I can take. I’m going hear FIVE TIMES and SIX RINGS so much today I think I’m going to puke.

Have you heard six rings yet?
