Surely they appeal, points get restored until decision made, ends up applying next season instead, Luton sue league as relegated, shitshow ensues.

They’d be better off accepting it this year and trying to get more points than Luton and Sheffield between now and the end of the season. If there was a time to take that punishment it’s this year.

Yeah if there was a season to take the deduction it would be this one. The 3 promoted teams are dreadful, I think they can make up the gap but they will be in a scrap for the rest of the season.

Chelsea and City next please but 100 points each

They're certainly playing well enough now to make it up. Plus I think the bottom three is unusually shit. 23 points might be enough for 17th at this rate.

Yep, like a few others on here, I agree that even with the deduction they can still catch up Everton and move back out the relegation zone.

Relatively speaking it's a great time for it to happen, 3 or 4 really shit teams around them and two thirds of the season still to go.

Hopefully this opens the floodgates to City and Chelsea's punishments. If Everton have got a 10 point deduction for a technical breach then what are those two going to get for premeditated cheating and industrial scale cover up over multiple seasons.

It's never City and Chelsea is it? Just easier to pick on others. Hopefully this starts a flood of these

From what I’ve heard/read a few journos say, the points aren’t restored while the appeal is heard and the whole thing should be finalised before this season ends.

Not that I think it will matter. With a points deduction I think they finish 16th/17th. Without it they’d finish maybe 11th. It’s a good season to get this penalty as the 3 promoted teams are hopeless.

VAR will make the decisions about Chelseas and Man Citys financial breaches. The conclusion will be that they were not clear and obvious.

It's pretty laughable that with all the financial juicing that Chelsea, City and now Newcastle have been doing that Everton are the first to face sanctions...

Probably the bodies involved aren't so worried about the Kenright's coming round to do them as opposed to the Saudis, the Mansours or Russian mafia...

Everton or the league? And why?
Everton. From the Guardian:
Leeds, Leicester and Burnley have previously written to Everton’s prospective new owners, 777 Partners, warning they intend to sue for damages in the event of a guilty verdict. All three clubs were relegated in the past two seasons when Everton narrowly survived. Southampton, another relegated club, have also threatened to take legal action that collectively could run into tens of millions of pounds.

It's worth remembering that these cases takes AGES to sort out. They wanted to conclude the Everton affair last season but couldn't in time. And that's ONE charge, as I understand it.

City are facing far, far more charges and it may take years for a resolution there.

On the face of it it just doesn't add up to me.

Everton have hardly been throwing cash around.

Obviously the others played it a bit smarter with the way they manipulated the books to massage their incomes.
