Q. If the ref doesn't give the pen and books Jota, does VAR overturn that? I'm guessing not but the fact both outcomes are possible is quite a massive flaw in the game surely

Sorry he was an Australian -- Football London ran the story so True/Not true ??

But he made the correct call in law. So at that point its just fans being like Liverpool.

My guess is he won't do games involving sides around Liverpool as the season gets later on just as Oliver wouldn't get games with sides that could impact Newcastle. But you can't keep him away from 8 clubs in the first half of the season.

Referees is a boys club. You go with your mates decisions. Even Dean tried to cover for Atwell on comms

No, because the ref will say he doesn’t think there’s enough contact and the player has exaggerated. VAR would not be able to prove otherwise.

And if he gives it, he’ll say there’s contact, which he believes is enough to send Jota down. VAR, again, can’t prove otherwise.

like you say, that’s where the flaw comes in.

We really need to import officials from outside of the UK

Then you need to pay them like the Saudi League is doing. And it has to be enough to potentially be willing to move to new nation and potentially give up any World Cup or CL opportunities for the remainder of their career.

I thought Drury was a good signing but his spoken word is very, very boring now.

It was already boring and irritating on ITV when they had CL. Couldn’t understand why everyone was so pleased he was going to Sky?

It’s like he rehearses alliteration and Shakespearean guff before the game so he can wheel it out at chosen moments.

He’s a bellend.

Bissouma gets a second yellow and sent off for a dive which would've resulted in a free kick in the middle of the park, every pundit calls him a 'disgrace'. Jota dives to win a penalty and it's ok as the ref bought it... 🤷🏽‍♂️

The sooner we get to AI making decisions for VAR calls the better. I'm not even kidding. I normally don't whinge about refs but that was absolutely unreal.

We all knew that after our game and Liverpool statement that they where going to get more decissions and points because of it. My worries now is that this is not the end of it. Will be like this for the rest of the season.

It’s been like it since the mid-eighties. The fuck up against us is the exception. Liverpool have always been given the lions share of refereeing decisions. This isn’t new.

Just seen the highlights and that is the worst dive I have ever seen. How was that given as a pen and how did VAR look at it and agree with the decision.

Liverpool fans cried over the VAR decision against us but are defending that. Shameless twats.

They have had loads since their big whingefest. I get why they were annoyed, their goal against us should clearly have stood, but they literally got a decision clearly in the favour the very next game against Brighton
And the repercussions of that have been us receiving dubious red and yellow cards along with most decisions going against us.
I don’t sign up to the conspiracy stuff but I do think the whole over the top media micro analysis does play into the psyche of the officials, look at how much negative press Romero has had with his tackle in the box with Chelsea, every game he has played since has resulted in some sort of comment about how he has played ‘on the edge’
The amount of tackles of a similar nature that have been put in since then that have resulted in either no foul or a yellow is ridiculous!
