Since this was a careless trip here is that defintion.

As you can see the laws of football don't go into a lot of detail and it's more of "you know it when you see it" type game to officiate. Which explains where a lot of the issues probably come from.
I'm not sure you classify it as a trip if he touches the ball. It's a tackle by definition surely.

And in that case is it careless, reckless or using excessive force? I don't think so.

If he misses the ball, careless trip and penalty for sure....

That was a pen 100%. Rice had zero interest in the ball for the whole 5 seconds he was challenging Dunk. Those just aren’t given any more until the ref decides one random game it will be.

Guarantee the 'random' game is against us.

When we played Brighton, every single one of their players were up for it and played like they had an vendetta against us - they're so sloppy today, like they're not that fussed

A bit surprised about the agreement on the penalty. Hate to say it, but I think it was a clear pen.

Sure, Lamptey nudges the ball, but that is from Jesus' touch, and the follow-through from him is unexplainable. Just so clumsy. Jesus would have a clear run at the ball if Lamptey didn't just hook his leg. Of course you're not allowed to do that.

Rice on Dunk however, that's even more of a clear penalty.
