Typical 2 weeks before we play them and they are on fire, just as we are in a dip in form 😱

I'd bench Saka, put Foden #10 and Palmer on the right, and Grealish on the left. Then have players like Saka and Gordon to bring on if needed.

Palmer has been excellent, but half his goals have been penalties. And that’s Kane’s domain. He’ll be on the bench for England, and rightly so for me.

Palmer should be starting for England.

Rice
Bellingham
Palmer

Saka
Kane
Foden

Agreed but it so won’t happen. Mainoo will walk into the team despite being 18 and only being ok in his very young career so far.

But comparing him to Saka, 5 of Saka's goals have also been penalties. So in non penalty goals and assists Palmer has more in a much worse overall team.

Southgate is a coward though.

More scared of losing than being a bit braver and setting up to win, playing to our strengths with the natural talent he has availible.

Rice sitting, Bellingham more box to box, Palmer ahead and in between the lines.

That team would be insane.

Ideally we’d find a way to fit all three (Foden, Saka, Palmer) in. Cos Grealish with his 3 league goals doesn’t do it for me.

You have to watch Grealish to understand his importance. Man City is a much better side with him playing on the left. That's why Pep starts him in all the big games. Plus none of those players are at their best on the left side so really Grealish is the only option.

Cole Palmer also strikes me as having this almost sociopathic steeliness about him that Saka doesn't. I'd imagine Palmer would be unphased taking a penalty to win a world cup final for example while Saka would be shitting himself.
