Word, Bonj.

Yet again we English fail to grasp the concept of free and fair society even when it comes to the joys of sport.

It's another page in the book as far as I'm concerned. There is so much wrong with England these days it's no wonder I won't be returning in a hurry.

fighting net pirates by shutting down websites etc will not work. build a bigger mouse/mousetrap and all that. its never ending. the only way is to offer an alternate service that gives the market what it wants. It worked for itunes music store etc. yeah it didnt stop online pirating, but it offered a completely new source of revenue that reduced the need for people to be compelled to pirate.

All too often powers that be dont realise that online distribution and to an extent piracy actually can help the market grow. the number of times ive downloaded an artist only to actually like their stuff, that i then visited gigs and subsequently purchased their next CD. if i hadnt been exposed to it via the interwebs then they would be getting exactly £0 from me in the first place. I can see the same thing happening with the premier league with regards to merchandise - if you keep peoples interest in a sport, they will purchase affiliated goods. its not rocket science.

so frustrating because you know some self serving internet company has gone to the FA and said X number of people are viewing your matches online, so you are therefore losing £X pounds in review, and the suits sit there and think that its gotta be affecting their bottom line so best try to shut it all down without thinking of a proper solution that the market actually wants.

Many of these sites will pop up again so keep searching SCers - they are out there!

Hoping to get a decent stream on Sunday and a good result.

I agree that it's BS there isn't a legal subscription service allowing us to follow all our teams live games. The technology already exists, and there's a demand for it. Once again the people get screwed in favour of corporations.

Don't they realise the further they take the game away from us, the less interested we'll become. It's time they thought long term, instead of short term.

I'm not completely familiar with the US NFL system, but I believe all local matches are shown live, free of charge. Imagine that. And they still fill their stadiums.

Yes. And for those not local they also have NFL Sunday Ticket available via satellite, which is a subscription package allowing you watch any game (there's a multiscreen dooda allowing you switch back and forth between any game) you want every week, live. Not just for one team, for every team, every week!

They have a very similar package for the EPL available on Foxtel in Australia.

Oh well, the Aussies are sorted. What about the rest of us. There's mind blowing amounts of money to be made out there from subscription packages.

Yep, that's pretty much what happens in the USA. In the NFL they sell double headers to Fox and CBS. For example, if we were in Miami then the local affiliate of CBS (who hold the rights to the AFC games) would show the Miami Dolphins game and then show a second game (usually the best match up from that time slot or another regional game, e.g. Tampa Bay or Jacksonville).

If the local game is the second game of the double header and the first game is running too long then the local affiliate will cut its coverage & switch to the local game so fans get to see the entire game of the local team. Because of this teams like the New York Giants and New York Jets never play on the same TV network so the people of New York can watch either game.

The Americans are so far ahead of us in terms of TV coverage for sports.

BUT I'm pretty sure that with NFL Game Pass or whatever they call it, you get a pretty big choice of games in HD over the net if you pay a subscription.

NFL Game Pass is brilliant. You get every single regular season and playoff game, archived broadcasts, all the NFL Network programs (Total Access, Playbook, etc.), can watch up to 4 games at the same time and pause & rewind games.

I find it a joke that someone in China can watch pretty much every Spurs league and UEFA Cup game whilst fans here are can't.

I have not been able to watch 1 Spurs game all season, that one was because the fixture clashed with one other on a sunday, we usually have a choice between all the saturday games and then they show all the other games, for no extra charge. Also if theres multiple games midweek we usually have a split screen choice aswell.
I find it amazing that you guys cant watch every game over there, its not like attendances would crash.

the nfl team has to sell out the stadium 48 hours in advance for the local channel to show the home game.

nfl ticket is fantastic you have 12 games at once to choose from

What does my head in about all this is that where does it stop? Fair enough, clamp down on those who are making money from illegally broadcasting on their sites if you like, but all this will mean is that a law will be drawn up and perimeters will be set as to what constitutes "broadcasting" a game. Is it broadcasting to stream directly, or does this go all the way to covering people like that mental Spanish Woolwich fan who set up a camera in front of his telly and spent the game singing over the commentary?

If we're honest, the streaming of sport isn't a new thing, but it's certainly not the size i'd expect it to be considering todays technology and the relatively uncontrollable nature of the intahwebb. It's really limited to a handfull of streams each game in reality and, until now, the reason no-ones been trying that hard is because barely anyone has appeared to care enough to stamp on it. Now that it's been bought into the fore, the streamers will take tougher measures to hide themselves, the sites will distance themselves from liability of the content being broadcast. As quick as the Prem's lawyers build the case, the pirates will be two steps ahead of them.

Picking random viewers to sting, using the ISP's to police browsing habits, that's always a threat but we've seen how many times the government have urged the ISP's to become the Guardian Angels of the net and how this has failed, due to their not being a set of international laws.

They've not stamped out fake clothing brands or fake electronic equipment in the east, they'll not stamp out illegal streaming of sport.

Well, in the US the system is very different because the teams are so spread out geographically. There's no way it would function is a country such as England, where there aren't really different networks for different channels as they are all in the same time zone, and where there are five clubs in London alone.

If you happen to pay for the correct service (DirectTV, I think), you can then pay more on top of that for all of the NFL games.

Myp2p wins court case!!!

We finally got our judgment in the legal proceedings. Finally a chance for us to clear some things up. The main important message is that we won the case.

On Thursday the 5th of February we had a court case in the Court of Roermond (Netherlands) against C More Entertainment AB regarding the seven competitions earlier mentioned. C More is, as some of you might know, a Swedish company which, among others, exploits the Canal+ brand in the Scandinavian countries.

And we won the case against C More! The Dutch court ruled that C More mistakenly initiated injunction proceedings because the case was to complicated, both factually as well as legally. C More was ordered to repay us all our legal costs. For now, this means we are allowing hyperlinks to games in the Premier League, Serie A and NHL again. We know it has been a long wait so we would like to thank you for all the support in the past weeks. It was worth it.

Make sure you start enjoying all the action again. Go to our forum to show your support or to congratulate us.
