The Premier League has released the following statement regarding our Premier League match against Arsenal, scheduled for Sunday (16 January, 4.30pm) at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium...

Premier League Statement
Following a request from Arsenal FC, the Premier League Board met today and regrettably agreed to postpone the club’s away fixture against Tottenham Hotspur, due to be played at 4:30pm on Sunday 16 January.

Fucking ridiculous. They’re thin on the ground but have loaned 2 players out this week!
Guarantee they will name a strong team Thursday night. Also if they were playing Norwich at home this weekend they wouldn’t have postponed.
So we get another fixture to rearrange on top of all the others.
Integrity of the competition?! Yeah right. Absolute bollocks premier league.

Of course it smells of corruption. If such is the case, what's the point of spending big money on a big squad. If a club has a problem with injury, then just apply for a postponement, citing this case. Keep the money in the pocket.

Clubs can save a fortune now. Don't bother with a 25 man squad. Have 14 or 15 and just have games postponed whenever you pick up a couple of injuries or suspensions.

Arsenal are an absolute disgrace and continue to drag football through the dirt this season. Scoring after refusing to return the ball to Watford, putting a goal past an injured goalkeeper and now using the COVID rules to cheat the system. No pride, no dignity and no class.

Pathetic really, given that they have 1 player with Covid and their reduced squad is hugely down to loaning players out this week, normal injuries and suspensions. This is taking the piss. It would fucking well serve them right if we had Romero fit with say Dybala and Traore added to the ranks by the time we play.

If it’s been cancelled because they don’t have a complete team it could be 10-15 years before we play the game.

At least Son will be back for the rearranged game. Hopefully he scores a hat-trick and then celebrates in front of Arteta by lifting up his top showing his undershirt with just the word Karma written on it.

I haven't read rhe rules on when a game can be permitted to be postponed. But assuming there were special measures for covid, one would assume it was glaringly obvious to specify 'covid' or have these piss taking instances arise. I several doubt this would have been permitted any other season?

So are the rules based on a pandemic free season or based on the current predicament?

What I find most irritating is the lack of consideration for Tottenham's future fixture congestion, had it been covid it would be one of those things. But it clearly isn't.

Thay and thr impact on fans who, as we have seen here, have made plans to travel (some a long way). I'm not usually one for the 'I hate this club or that club' but arsenal have been massive dicks.

Where possible, the League will endeavour to keep supporters updated if games become at risk.

Did the league ever put out an announcement that the game was at risk - or were there just leaks prior to the postponement?
