My gf and I are having our children in Spain to reduce the likelihood of them becoming blue or red scum.

She thinks it's because she's Spanish and it's nice over there

All 5 of mine are Spurs, you need to brainwash them, Spurs fans are generations old I doubt any of my kids would have picked Spurs but you need to send the curse down with each generation
I don't have any kids but do have 3 nephews. 2 of 3 are Spurs the 3rd is not bothered with Football. Of the other 2 the one has 2 boys- both Spurs

Of all the scary and daunting things about fatherhood and the doubts etc that people have...

When I get to that stage of having children, my major fear is that I won't be able coerce my children into to being Spurs fans.

Genuinely scares me that does.

I have 7 kids mate all Tottenham fans, it was made clear from a very early age, it's Tottenham or get the fuck out, that simple.

Just an quick update.

Putting the boy to bed tonight and he said...
"daddy, you know the football yesterday".
" yes son".
"Well, when spurs were losing why didn't we cheer for the ones in blue?"...

...there followed a 20 minute monologue about why it is spurs, solely spurs, nothing but spurs and we are not to cheer for another team ever except sometimes Barnet and sometimes Rugby Town.

To finish I think I played a trump card at the right time...
I said " you know we wore our shirts yesterday just like the players"
"Yes dad"
"Well, here is a picture of your grandad wearing his shirt and its a real one because he used to play for the team"

I have told the lad this before but I think now it had more magnitude following on from yesterday and I think I have managed to stem any thoughts of 'cheering for the others'.

Also, i got a bollocking off the wife for taking too long to put the boy to bed but I think you will all agree that these were exceptional circumstances and I did what needed to be done.

So, the result may not have gone our way yesterday but I am confident that we have secured the support of another young fan so for me personally it was a great final and one our family will recall for many years.

Social Services have been made aware and will be visiting tomorrow ;)

In all seriousness, started my kid(s) early too - kits from birth, all that stuff. My eldest (7) may have even talked his mate, who is 6, into supporting Spurs. Even better in that his dad is a gooner - not definitive yet, but I'm getting him to keep working on his mate.

Every time I watch Spurs with my 3 year old nephew he asks me which ones we want to win and I say 'the White one's buddy' and he shouts 'GOAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!' every time we score and asks if that means we've won the game. He has to be a Spurs fan or my family will disown him!

Being in China my one of my daughters first songs that I taught her in English was "Stand up if you hate Arsenal". She must have been about a year old. Now she's 7 and has been completly sold on being a Spurs supporter. I'm not sure if I'm happy really as the grief she's going to get... Oh well it's done now(y)

My son was never going to be Spurs - too strong willed even with bribes and brain washing but he is a mad Barca fan and to be honest I am not too unhappy with that. For a while he was a Liverpool fan but that went off the boil in his early teens thank my lucky stars. He always asks me about Spurs though when we see each other and he knows how fanatical I am about the whole thing. At least he is being nice about it. My oldest daughter thinks football is a waste of time and she is a tennis fan. But my youngest daughter has surprisingly turned out to be a closet Spurs supporter and came to watch the Final with me. She thinks Chelsea are a pack of thugs. Asked all about the Spurs lads. Fancies Erik Lamela and Nacer Chadli. She even knew a few songs. That will do me.(y)

Yep, my son never had a choice, been getting him Spurs kits from no age. I never had a choice either lol my dad was never really into football but my uncles were all Spurs and took me to the side and told me who I was supporting my cousins are all Spurs aswell.

My sis married a Gooner though and he brainwashed my nephew, all good banter lol

Top story.

Reminds me of when I had a complaint from the school re my football obsessed 4 year old daughter. The story goes that she managed to get the better of her gooner PE teacher when she started a chant of 'stand up if you hate arsenal' from the lunch queue. School weren't impressed; still brings a tear of pride to my eye !

I hope my 9 year old doesn't start the chants we were singing on Sunday to his Chelsea PE teacher...Mourinhos right......

Genuinely scares me that does.

I'll be honest mate, I had the same fears with my first, particularly as her first 4-5 years were spent growing up in Dulwich/Peckham with her Mums side of the family all Millwall.

Put your mind at rest though. If your kids can see how much you love the club.

I took a leaf out of my Old Man's book and told them bedtime stories of Hoddle, Waddle, Gazza et al, so they were left with the romantic impression of the great 80's side.

I have 2 now, 16 and 12. My boy is 12, not really into Football, yet you still hear him strolling round the house quietly singing "everywhere we goooo".

Never ceases to bring a grin to my boat when I hear it.

My kids will always be Tottenham, because that romance is indelibly imprinted on them. It's something that no amount of peer pressure will ever be able to replace.
