Truly bizarre decision :wtf:.

Measured against expected performance (using Sporting Index spreads as the reference point) Palace under Pulis were by far and away the best performing team last season (Liverpool 2nd, Everton 3rd).

I slagged off his stoke side but at the end of the day he got results and looked he could bring that same stability to Palace. Football club owners are mental.

This would be surprising if it weren't for the fact that it just turns out to be some other massive slice of fortune for the Woolwich Sphincter.

Possibly the most stupid decision of the season... And we haven't even played a game yet.

incredible, they just went from promising mid-table side to relegation side just 2 days before the season starts....

imagine any of those new players at breakfast this morning, "Tony did what?!"

palace just fuqed themselves :wacky:

Didn't see that one coming! Thought they'd be giving Pulis the keys to the coffers after last seasons' miracles.

Actually I've been giving this some thought, I think everyone needs to go and put some money on Malky Mackay linking up with Ian moody again and keeping them up...

Ah good shout man, I forgot about Mackay. I'm kinda hoping they give it to Sherwood for the jokes, we might see a 30 million deadline day bid for Bentaleb ha

It'll obviously be Mackay with his chum already there.

I never understand why chairmen are so keen for their managers not to be in charge of transfers. It's not as if Pulis was going to sign the cheques himself.

Very silly stuff from a club that looked like it was on the up.

Well, Levy is the same, hence the transfer 'committee' although it's not like he chooses the transfer targets on his own. It is a very silly move indeed although I think that Malky has a point to prove after Vincent Tan and so I think he would do a very good job there.

I think if the manager is on board with the 'transfer committee' or whatever the role is called then it's fine (although the manager themselves should always be involved), but here it seems as if Pulis was not told what was going on which is a ludicrous situation to be in.

If the club aren't going to spend, I can't see much attraction for the manager especially with no pre-season and their squad isn't great, it was more of Pulis working wonders
Have you ever heard of a thing called money?

Sounds like Pulis was very frustrated with the director's inability to get the deals he wanted signed.

Moyes had the same problem at Utd last summer as other than Fellaini they didn't complete any of the signings he needed.

Maybe Pulis' targets weren't very realistic. Sigurdsson and Caulker were always deemed to go to better clubs. Pulis spent a lot of money at Stoke and most of his signings had no sell-on value. Pulis is a good manager but not convinced he is very smart in the transfer market when given a lot of money.

No who's that?

Unless you mean Richard Money, the Cambridge United manager, however I don't think Palace are going to be looking at someone like him

lol, not sure if serious. Just in case though, I said "thing called money" not "manager called money."

I had Palace staying up but now they are doomed. What Pulis did last season was breathtaking and admired by all football fans. Will Harry get him back as the defensive coach for QPR...until we thrash West Ham on Saturday and their board realise that Pulis is available
