Question for all Spurs fans...

If we go on to win the Europa League, are Poch and the rest of the players fully forgiven?

Having seen the dust settle on that farce of a CL campaign. I've decided that we shouldn't piss away the EL. If we are honest, we had no chance of winning the the CL whilst we would have a realistic chance of a trophy (and subsequent qualification for the CL) by winning the the EL. I'd personally rather us go deep in the EL than have gone through our group, then get smashed by Madrid, Barcelona etc in the last 16.

Yes it can fuck up our league performances but if we can't compete on two fronts then there's no point being in the CL anyway. Show the competition the respect it deserves and go for the win

Also route back into CL should as likely we miss out on top four spots.

I don't know how you could say no to this. I'd probably run 4 laps around my street if we won the EL...

If you said no then I really think you need to think twice. What's the chance of us winning the CL anyway? Fuck all, let's be honest. If we could win the Europa League that would be the pinnacle in the near future for this club

I'd much rather we win the EL than finish top 3/4 in the league and I'd rather we win the EL than had we made it to the semi final of CL

Problem is I fear the club has an all together different agenda and will likely play a weakened team in the EL giving us no hope of success

come on be realistic

you mean drop into the europa league and play part reserves and first team and loose like we did last year and the year before against quality opposition.

My main concern is - will Poch take the fa cup seriously

the main criticism of the EL has been the group stages, which we'd obviously avoid. from the last 32 onward, it's actually a pretty good tournament, with lots of good teams at or around our level. we're clearly not good enough to seriously compete in the CL, yet we seem to think we're too good for the EL. I don't get it at all.

The problem with the EL is that it has a round of 32, it would be a much better prospect without it. Having said that I wAnt us to take it seriously not least cos I signed up to BT sports for the CL campaign

nothing to forgive.

they made a fist of it. they put the effort in. they just weren't good enough. I'm not happy; but they hardly need forgiven.

what I won't forgive is if we drop down into the Europa and don't put the effort in there.

Obviously.

However I think people are once again overrating us with regards to the EL. We're not nearly good enough to win it, even when we were at our best last season.

I'd love to win it because it'd be a trophy which is the most important thing but almost as important it's a route back to the CL which is vital given we're highly unlikely to get there via the league this season.

But if we sack it off like we always do then we'd better make a big effort to win the FA Cup. We won't though.

It seems the absolute last thing on the list of club priorities is an actual trophy.

Its a cows opinion now anyway because we play at Wembley and we can't win there so we'll go out of EL if we even get in. Lets just win the league, that'll do.

Would love a season where we just play our absolute best team every game and forget squad rotation, use other squad members for injury cover.
Team would play together once/twice a week and after ore season training sessions dependant on energy levels

with the EL Poch will definitely rotate to try and keep players fresh for the PL especially if we still have a chance of top4 by the time the KO's start. he might change it if we got as far as the semi's but not holding out much hope.

to be totally honest I don't think he will field a very strong team v CSKA with another tough away trip the Sunday after

@Spurs71 why the WTF rating?

if we are challenging top 4 by the time the rd of 32 starts in February Poch will rotate, that's what Poch does. if we got in the Semi's I wouldn't be shocked if he fielded a stronger team.

I don't think he will play our strongest team v CSKA, with a trip to OT on the Sunday, especially if we are still struggling with injuries

To be totally honest my feelings about the Champions League haven't changed its a poor substitute for the old European Cup the competition is a bit souless, much as the games have been and its really only there to make a few bob. Going out of it who cares - we have half a chance in the UEFA cup and hopefully someone will see the light and I wont have to go back to Wembley

I'd love for us to win it but it won't be taken seriously, like the domestic cups aren't taken seriously. We only have goggle eyes for champion league qualification via the league .

For me its all a learning curve. we were never going to win the champions league were we? i mean arsenal have been in it every year and have not won it.Its about developing and learning from the experience and giving the youngest squad in the league experience.

So for me against Moscow i would give players like Carter-Vickers, Winks, Onamah, Carroll and Edwards the experience of playing in front of 90k fans at Wembley. put LLoris, Trippier, davies Verts, janssen and Sissoko so its a mixture of first team and kids

if we beat Moscow and go into Europa use it to give experience to the kids

that setup doesn't really benefit anyone, do that and the most likely outcome is we lose and the kids get written off. we want to see if the young players can step into the first team, not some mishmash side. if kwp gets a chance in the team then lets see him with alderweireld alongside him giving him guidance and lamela ahead of him helping him out defensively, or if ccv gets a game then let it be with walker and vertonghen either side of him. edwards needs players more on his wavelength like eriksen and lamela to play off, not sissoko or other youngsters still finding their way.

Good reasoning
