Last time i went there was no decent queuing system, so it's just a mish mash of people trying to be served.

From my experience on Sunday, it seemed like the people behind the bars needed more training or experience on the pint filling machines. Again and again I'd see one of them spend 30 seconds trying to pour a pint and the machine was either broken/empty or the barman couldn't work it.

As I recall, things were pretty slow when the stadium first opened and got a bit faster after the first few matchdays. I'd imagine that almost nobody working at the drinks outlets in the stadium was there before Covid, so they're all probably working things out as they go.

I’ve done a similar job to those behind the bar. It’s actually the managers fault if they are slow. If they are laughing and joking with their colleagues or just generally pissing about that is for their team leader to pick up on.

Their pay has nothing to do with it.

This sounds harsh, but it's really no concern of mine how much they're paid. I'm not blaming them as individuals. But the club is charging large amounts for a drink, so it's perfectly reasonable to expect that it'll be good quality and available quickly with good service. If they need to pay for more or better staff, then that's what they need to do. Right now it's £5 a pint or more for significantly less than Wetherspoons quality of service. And the location doesn't at all justify that at all when we already pay the highest ticket prices in the world for it - I'm perfectly entitled to be unhappy if they're trying to mug me at both ends!

to be honest I think the tickets have gone remarkably well there were queues against City but on Sunday they were less I was a bit earlier mind and even I have managed to get through without to many issues and worked out how to transfer a ticket over for my brother

i wouldn't bother opening the bars at half time if people can't sit down for a couple of hours without a pint I dunno - there were couple of pissed lad there on Sunday who had forgotten where there seats were then spent an age arguing with the steward about why they can't bring there beer in he should have just turfed them out
The ticket queues outside the ground aren't bad, because everyone else is stuck in hour-long queues at the ticket office ;) I'm kidding, but it was frustrating at the time. I'm hoping the new system will improve as more matches come and go.

How lovely.

Literally insulting the staff and the clientele.

You genuinely hate life don't you.
How am I insulting the staff?

Your obsession with me is sweet but I’m taken darling ?

Look forward to your response, but I won’t see it, you’ve just made the now 4 long ignore list ?

you are clearly smashing it with your ‘ 4 long ignore list ‘ whatever that means.

maybe you work in a sub subway sandwich shop and get constantly fed up with dissatisfaction from punters looking for a 6 inch sub.....

or maybe it’s not about the length of the sandwich and something else?

either way. The staff I’ve interacted with at the stadium have been excellent. Maybe not silver service...but I’m not sure if thats required. They have struggled because the bottom up pints mean they need to ‘pour’ 3 pints to make one because the gas isn’t set correctly. It makes it a longer process.

its not their fault. They are doing their best but the technology isn’t working. I’ve been to Wembley and despite the ridiculous price it actually works.

as for calling someone who wants a pint at half time a ‘fat drunken moron’ says everything about you.

you slag off the staff for not being trained enough and slag off the consumers they are there to serve. Making money for the club but both are handicapped due to the ineptness of the upper management.

you come across as hateful.

Just in case anybody else twists my words so grotesquely, I was not insulting the staff, I was defending them against what I felt was unfair criticism by the OP, suggesting he was expecting too much of them considering that they are poorly paid and working in a demanding environment. I hope nobody else construes my comment in the same way as my now blocked comrade has.

I maintain that the majority of us in the stadium are cognitively lacking drunkards who could do with befrirnding a salad from time to time :D

above shows us why we should reject supermarket booze deals and stop drinking at home.

in a pub someone would pull him up,

It's not about the size of the sandwich, it's about the motion of the supermarket booze.

This thread turned fun for the neutrals.

I saw and heard a team leader cough....while she was behind the bar ...she removed her mask to do so...a phlegm filled cough that would do a navvy with galloping consumption proud.

I thought we had invested in these super-duper, highly innovative beer pumps that distribute thousands of pints per hour? Any other match goers thoroughly disappointed by the length of the queues to get a drink from the bars, especially at half time?

Is the technology only as good as the staff operating them? Seems no better than the Lane….
Had no issues at all. Where about in the ground is your block?

I went first game back, and early, probably more demand on the bar than any game that came pre covid but by HT/FT half the pumps were either out of order/empty or serving up 70% froth meaning each pint had the be filled three or four times in order to actually get a full beer.

Add to that that they ran out of pump glasses - so they'd have to fill the ones they had, and then pour that into a regular plastic pint cup!

Hoping they've sorted it for the games since but didn't feel like they were ready for the city game...

Do people really need a half time beer? It's 15 minutes for fuck sake. Have some beers before and after the game. Then watch the football.

What if Doherty is selected to start?

Those 15 precious minutes could be the difference between remembering or forgetting.

Surely nobody is blaming the individual members of staff? Beer running out or pumps failing is a system failure not a staffing one?

For me it's a very minor gripe in what is otherwise a really good match day experience. I'm just a bit surprised that it hasn't been improved upon like everything else.

Sadly I think a significant chunk of people that show up don’t give a shit about what happens on the pitch, they’re just there for a larf and to get pissed up with their mates and have bAnTZ.

Was the same at the Lane to be honest. First five minutes of each half up and down line a pogo stick as I’m letting people who missed kick off walk past me to get to their seat, add repeating the act at the end of each half as the escape they seat too. Never understood it. Far less expensive ways to not watch football. Do these people not wank?
Agree 100%also when they do get back they spend most time on there phone
