It's getting harder as they run away with it, just like last season with Leicester. If we finish second and get the fa cup, I'll be more than happy.

We need to win something this season.

It would be our best season since 61, more than happy would be an understatement!

Think it is imperative we win a trophy and make sure that Liverpool do not finish above us as I think they are the team that are the "outsider" considering all the others are regular top 5 sides.

If we finish 2nd/3rd and win a trophy then it will be a great season, excellent season actually.

Just having a look at the run in and Chelseas last 3 games have them at home against Boro and Sunderland, and away to wba. Meanwhile we have to go to spam and Hull, and home to Man u. Could be done and dusted by then of course but even if it isn't, those fixtures aren't kind for us.

I'm sure it will be done by then which means that we will be playing for a CL place imo.

Don't they have Liverpool and Arsenal next? Fair to say if we havn't cut into their lead by a few points by the time the next two sets of fixtures have been played I think our title chances will have gone from slim to miniscule.

Let's see where we are in two games time before declaring it's all but over.

Anything is possible.

Agree with the comments above.

Straight after Chelsea play Liverpool and Arsenal then we play Liverpool away. My view is that unless the gap to Chelsea is then down to 6 points we should then play our strongest teams in the Europa Cup and a strong team in the FA Cup (I assume we will beat Wycombe) as I think this season will then be more about winning a cup more than finishing in the top 4. The Europa cup of course then guarantees entry into the Champions League anyway.

If the gap is 6 points or less then we still have title hopes and then the league takes precedence over the cups.

I wonder how Poch and the Spurs management will view it at that stage?

As everyone has said I think the lead needs to be down to 6 points or less after the next 2 fixtures, we'll have to then beat Liverpool away as well as Chelsea have Burnley that round of fixtures so they'll probably win that. If we fail to beat Liverpool any potential ground we've made up before then will be for nothing.

Any neutral looking at the table would say the title race is done already, I just can't see anyone catching Chelsea.

Winning the EL or FA Cup and finishing in the top 4 would be massive for us. Finishing above Arsenal would be nice as well, not because I give a toss about them but because it would shut people up.

Are you a couple of spanners short of a full toolbox? We are engaged in 750m capital project. Finishing top 4 and guaranteeing CL football is everything at the moment. Yes, this young squad needs to get their hands on silverware to grow. But the financial reality has got to come first right now.

Boring old argument about top 4 or a trophy - but your comment just smacks of everything that's wrong with modern football. You must be pretty young to feel that way. Winning trophies is the best part of supporting a club. To say you would rather finish 4th than win the FA Cup is very, very sad.

Tottenham Hotspur will survive financially without being in the fucking Champions League. We are fantastically well run off the pitch. We haven't gambled our future away on the reliance of CL football.

I feel very sad for you, and others who share this view.

The club will always put CL qualification over a trophy because it gives us more revenue therefore making our transition over to the new stadium a little smoother, whether you support that or not that's the reality, the quicker some fans acept that the better.

we'll lose 1/3 of our team without CL though .. don't think Lloris, Toby, Dele Alli would stick around...

Personally I think Chelsea might be too far ahead for anyone to catch but if they lose their next game it obviously let's everyone back in with a chance. Watching Liverpool recently though it wouldn't surprise me if Chelsea went there and won.

I don't think we'll win the league but we have to at least show we could. I still don't think we ever had much of a chance last season, we were never really close enough. If we could somehow go into the last two games 3/4 pts behind Chelsea, even if Chelsea won both it would at least show the players here that we could win the premier league.

Next season for me is a worry playing at Wembley, we might struggle getting top 4 but the first two seasons at the new stadium it really wouldn't surprise me if we won the league in one of them. Literally our whole current (and extremely good) team will be in their prime, Poch will have two more seasons of experience. The team itself will have more experience of being in title races.

If we're ever going to win it I believe it'll be in one of those first two seasons at our new stadium. In the mean time it would be bloody good, and extremely useful to win something, anything.

For me, I thought our neighbours one point above us is good.. Take some pressure off us while we continue catching up.. We are not gonna get much mentioned anyway in the title run-in I guess, so let the attention turns to the two jammy sides then.. Let them worried about each other while we silently do our job and spring a last gasp attack at the last quarter of the campaign..

Anyway, I think the lead will cut to 5-4 points at least at one point..

This

We're currently 3 points off 5th with 16 games to go and some people reckon we could ease off in the league after the next few games? Don't get it. We were going full pelt last season at the expense of cups and still nearly messed it up

100% agree. This team now needs to win something, that is still what matters, that is what fans and media etc will talk about years from now not how many times we finished in the top4. Of course it's important financially, it's also important to finish as high up the league as it's the fundamental competition however winning trophies is what it's all about, id actually take 5th and the fa cup this year over 2nd and no trophy. However ideally we can still finish top4 and win a trophy.

Next 2 games for Chelsea are key, if they lose both and we and others pick up points there is still a small chance otherwise they're just too far ahead and can't see them slipping up. So fucking annoying as pretty much any other season we'd be 1st right now and also even last season Leicester only had 44pts, I think if we removed Chelsea this year and we were top currnetly with the experience of last season the boys would have a really good chance of winning it, my heart says we still have a chance, my head says we have absolutely no chance of catching those c**** so let's aim for chasing them as long as we can and hopefully coming 2nd and winning a trophy.

COYS.

Poch and this team won't give up, neither shall we.

Big teams don't throw in the towel, it's only January, still got almost half the season to go, concentrate on our own games and take each game as it comes.

Even a 2nd place finish would be huge considering the strength of those around us, most pundits had us for 6th this season, however we have to believe as well as the team.
