This weekend has made no difference imo. I expected Chelsea to win I would have been happy with a draw for ourselves. If Chelsea are going to blow it, it's going to be against far better teams than Hull. Just have to keep beating the cannon fodder, and getting as much out of the other top six sides as we can.

Agreed

My only disappointment from this weekend was the manner in which Arsenal snatched a last kick victory over Burnley (again) with a goal that shouldn't have stood (again)

Doesn't matter. We'll finish about Arsenal. It's written in the stars. Not that Arsenal is so important than "finishing above them" constitutes a "good season".

You think?

After the mind the gap year and last year I find it hard to ever be confident we will finish above them

Hopefully the football gods will make it happen for the last year at the Lane

I'd like that too but rather it happened in our new stadium, set a new precedent in a new environment.
It would really make a strong statement for the future in the NWHL.

Last year was last year. I was never confident. But this season, you won't even remember what colours Arsenal play in once the season is over.

If you take Sanchez out of their team, then they are nothing special. He is one of the few world class players in premier league

Piping up again I see, even if you think it may happen it's just one of those things you don't talk about until the season is done, we've been burnt too many times :D

Never understood the "if you take player x out of their team they'd be no good argument". Surely that's the same for most teams? Are we anything special without Kane?? Not with Janssen up top at the moment.

Boring old argument about top 4 or a trophy - but your comment just smacks of everything that's wrong with modern football. You must be pretty young to feel that way. Winning trophies is the best part of supporting a club. To say you would rather finish 4th than win the FA Cup is very, very sad.

Tottenham Hotspur will survive financially without being in the fucking Champions League. We are fantastically well run off the pitch. We haven't gambled our future away on the reliance of CL football.

I feel very sad for you, and others who share this view.

The problem you have though it there are trophies and there a TROPHIES.

The only two that fall into the latter category are the PL and the CL.

The League cup and EL fall into the first.

and the FA cup somewhere in between.

All that really matters is that you consistently qualify for the CL and by extension, compete for your domestic title.

These matter not because of the pot specifically but because of what it stands for. That is that you are the best team in the country and/or in Europe.

I want Spurs to be the best team, the odd bauble is merely a side product of that and until we have the squad to compete on all fronts, we must qualify for the CL every year.

You rate the Fa Cup as being more prestigious than the EL? Even though the EL gives you CL qualification?

I thought we were the better team last year, I thought we were the better team during the mind the gap season but still they somehow managed to finish above us

I think we're the better team now but I still can't be confident of finishing above them this year, recent history makes me feel they are likely to find a way again

I really hope this year is different but I'm far from confident of it

Don't they have Liverpool and Arsenal next? Fair to say if we havn't cut into their lead by a few points by the time the next two sets of fixtures have been played I think our title chances will have gone from slim to miniscule.

Let's see where we are in two games time before declaring it's all but over.

Anything is possible.

On the plus side, as our next two games are games we should really be winning, if we do win both even if Chelsea win both their next two games we'll have gained points on Arsenal and Liverpool.

I'm old enough to have seen us win trophies, and desperately hope to see it again. Don't feel sad for me, just because I realise the club is at the most significant crossroads in it's history.

The title looking a distant dream at present. We'll obviously battle until the end, but it looks like Chelsea are going to be too strong this season. Winning a trophy plus qualifying for the Champions League again would be a great season.

I'm not really looking at how realistic our chances are until we see how Chelsea do against Arsenal and Liverpool. If they get 3 points or more it's probably going to be too hard to catch them. If they lose both (unlikely) it could be game on.

The trophy argument is so boring now.

Wigan won the FA Cup.
What fucking good did it do them?

If we become champions league regulars cups will happen.
If we win a cup nothing much changes. Possible exception being the EL. Which we won't win as Poch will play a reserve team.
