I mean its not like we have never gone to Stamford Bridge and lost our collective heads...

Are we better than Chelsea? Yeah, I think so. Does the better team always win? No.

Did you see us getting 10 points more than chelsea in the last 6 games?
Well considering Chelsea are in a state of disarray with the manager and the board at war, the players not buying into Conte's tactics and an obvious problem at centre-forward, Chelsea having a poor run of form isn't enormously surprising.

Chelsea then immediately turning it round to win their last 9 on the bounce and United losing 3 out of their 9... not going to happen.

I can see Conte getting sacked if Chelsea are humiliated at Barcelona next week. Maybe Abramovich will bring back Hiddink or another caretaker to restore morale and ensure that Chelsea are competitive for the remainder of the season.

We have to go to Stamford Bridge, and play City whereas Chelsea don’t. United and Liverpool are probably over the line, but we definitely aren’t. A loss at Stamford Bridge means a two-point gap.
And if we lose to City and they beat whoever they play that weekend, Chelsea can go a point ahead of us, all things being equal.

this is why we need united to now win on Saturday and drag Liverpool back into the mix. their game against the chavs needs to be meaningful whereas if they're already cemented in the top 4, they'll be on the beach.

After this weekend Liverpool play twice before our next league game. It’s this stage of the season where timing of fixtures start to have an impact.

With regards our chances, win 7 out of our last 9 and we’ll do it. Of course prolonged CL and FA Cup participation for any of the clubs can also impact

I think finishing second instead of third or forth makes a difference financially next season in the champions league as percentage of the Market Pool for English Teams is distributed by finishing place.
1st = 40%
2nd = 30%
3rd = 20%
4th = 10%

We have made about €15M more than Liverpool this year primarily based on the difference between 2nd and 4th.

As a side note, Manchester United, as the 5th team, do not get any of the broadcast revenue.

This is true, but as part of next season's reforms the market pool is becoming much less relevant. At the moment, it accounts for about 2/3rds of all UCL revenue. From next year, is will only be 25%, alongside three other pots worth 25% each. One is split equally, one is based on performances in that season's competition (i.e. money for winning group matches, going further into the knockout rounds etc) and one is based on the new UEFA 10-year coefficient. As well as being what it says on the tin, that 10-year coefficient also includes bonus points for previous European titles - you get 12 points for a UCL won in the last 5 years, 8 for a UCL more than 5 years ago but after 1992, and 4 for an older UCL, as well as 3, 2, and 1 points per UEFA Cup, Europa League or Uefa Cup Winners' Cup in each period.

The coefficient calculation in general is also changing to not include the aspect based on performance of other teams in your country - this only comes into play as a minimum now, so if e.g. Burnley qualify for the Europa League they'll get the small English base coefficient rather than 0, but we don't get any benefit over e.g. Celtic for having qualified through a more difficult league.

This means that out of the English participants, we get less of that pot - we have 3 bonus points and City only 1, but United have 31 and FIVE TIMES-on-Mersey FC have 28 (less than United... that'll piss them off!!!). Overall for the big English teams, our 10-year score is 123 compared to 220 for United, 216 for Chelsea, 182 for Battered-by-Bayern, 154 for City and 142 for Liverpool. So if the season ended now, we'd get about half as much as United from that pot and only a third as much from the market pot, so even if we did equally well in next season's competition we'd get about 30% less money than them.

I think we'll beat Chelsea and perhaps draw with Shitty.
I tend to agree on the Chelski prediction but for some reason they raise their game when it is time to play us. I would say for some stupid reason we almost their biggest rival. In the last 3 yrs they go up a level when our fixture arrives. There is a passion and intensity associated with this fixture. I dont see it when they play Arsenal as an example.

Here is my prediction, we won't lose to Chelsea and we'll beat Manchester City so no need to panic.
My prediction is Chelsea will lose at least 3 more times in the league.

They’ve lost 8 times already this season, with 3/4 of the fixtures played. So it’s statistically likely they’ll lose another 2.66, and I’m choosing to round up!

Almost? We’re easily their biggest rival. They sing about us all the time when not playing us.

Yeah but 5 yrs ago we were not. So im kinda mystified as to when we became their dearest rival. There's so much intensity and they could be in the worst form but raise their performance levels against us.

Perhaps its that thumping we gave them on New years day or there abouts 3 yrs ago.

I was under the impression that they'd felt this way since the '67 cup final.

funnily enough I don't think we will lose to either City or Chelsea - i reckon we'll get 4 points from those games.

my main worry is the other games where we are expected to win. Games like Palace where we needed an 89th minute winner are the ones that always make me nervous.

Am I looking at this wrong or are our next 4 fixtures away from home.
Hoping that Newcastle game gets thrown in there somewhere to break it up.

Very typical of Spurs fans to be looking down the league. We are 4 points of 2nd and 5 of 5th and we are 2nd in the form table.

Under Poch we have shown our best form at this stage of the season. I know its difficult to feel confident when we have fallen short before but the odds are in our favour.

We have no chance of getting 1st. So we are looking at 2nd to 5th. 2nd to 4th really isn't that huge of a difference to our season but 5th is. It is a concern.
It's like a team in 16th trying not to worry about relegation.
