Depends if you put it in context. Can’t argue we haven’t looked great. But I don’t think we are performing terribly. We could have easily nicked it yesterday. Foster knew nothing about that save. We lost to an exceptional city side. We lost a 50/50 game to united. We drew to a very well organised Brighton team that have just beaten united. And lost to a WBA team that are on a miraculous run. Clearly it’s not ideal but we easily could have won all those games bar city. As said we aren’t playing well but we are still creating chances and aren’t conceding shed loads of goals. I’d still rather be in our position than Liverpool in regard to top 4.

Cant agree.. Right now i would rather be in Liverpool shoes. They creating and banging in the goals, they in THE Cup Final (irrespective of whether they win it). They play with a swagger and attacking prowess which i wish we possessed. Since Klopp arrived they've addressed their deficiencies with each passing window.

So at this moment in time, in the closing stages of this season i think they are in a much better space than we are.

I can't see anything other than a Chelsea win.

After the high of the CL for Liverpool and the potential prize on offer for Chelsea I just think the motivations vastly outweigh each other. I think Liverpool will be beaten and they'll coast to victory over Brighton next week to seal top 4.

I would want him not to score and they get a draw.

I guess we all have our opinions. Bottom line is we are playing shit. Out of form. Out of confidence. If we can keep the gap with chelsea to 5 points despite losing to the leagues worst team that is a huge positive. We are stumbling over the line. We need Chelsea to lose

Even if Pool win today, that puts them 4 points ahead of us? Win our game in hand. It makes for a very interesting last day! Third is very much on ?

This is killing me.

After a tough start, we started to really kick on and now we're limping over the finish line, hopefully for 4th, hoping for other teams to do us favours.

4 points from Brighton, Watford and West Brom.

We desperately need a shakeup, but what's going to change in 3 days? It's hard to see us getting 3 points from Newcastle and Leicester let alone 6.
Interesting that United are on the same run of fixtures. It'll be interesting to see whether they can improve upon the zero points they've gained so far.

Newcastle is an evening game. Fans could do their part. Get on the booze Wednesday evening and attempt to create some atmosphere to get us over the line.
Let's hope not too many of the complete melts on here are there on Wednesday then.

Yeah in the bigger scheme of things yes i agree with your sentiments... Finishing above both teams would be such a sweet end to the season.

I don't understand why we stumbling over the line now though.

Ferguson was being a smug bastard when he said that decisions evened themselves out over the course of a season, but if he'd said it about results I'd definitely have agreed. Everyone expected us to struggle this season because of playing at Wembley and ultimately our final points tally will reflect our season away from WHL. We've actually improved our away form (only by a point, but it's consistent at least) and, if we take a holistic view of the season, the reasonable reflection will be that Wembley rather than any particular run of form has been the major factor.

I think we'll win both our remaining games and finish third anyway, so...

I don't think Wembley has impacted us as much as was being predicted. I think we adapted and git some excellent results there. Let's get over the line get CL football for next season... Hopefully our targets have been identified and negotiating has begun.

I think and hope Liverpool will be well at it today going for the win, do that and they can rest a few on the final day vs Brighton.
It'd be a very risky approach to do anything else, as that could mean them needing a win vs Brighton, who when they're at it are a pretty good side.

The thing is that the Chelsea v Liverpool game is a no lose scenario for us. If Chelsea win we are 1 point behind Liverpool with a game in hand. If Liverpool win then we are 5 points ahead of Chelsea with better goal difference and better goals for. If it's a draw then we are 2 points behind Liverpool with a game in hand and 4 points ahead of Chelsea.

You guys are all arguing semantics, top 4 is still in our hands and anything other than a Liverpool win puts top 3 in our hands. Let's just sit back and wait for the result!

Up until yesterday I wanted a draw/Chelsea win, but now I just want top 4 sorted asap. Pool win win would be the best outcome now.

Liverpool is an example of what can happen when you make big investments to address weaknesses in a side that is a similar level to Spurs. Of course, the problem is Spurs do not have the same financial power as Liverpool. In the transfer market Spurs are always 5th or 6th in the pecking order.

Compared to our rivals, we have less potential to maximise but further to fall if we’re managed poorly.

Spurs makes me happy, you... not so much :)
