He was fuckin class against us at the Lane.Would be a good signing for a reasonable price.

Tottenham boss Juande Ramos may raid his homeland for some fresh talent with a £3 million bid for Getafe defender Daniel 'Cata' Diaz first on his shopping list.
Diaz, who can play at centre back or right back, has confirmed that Tottenham are among a group of clubs around Europe that have enquired about his services.
And, with uncertainty surrounding the future of skipper Ledley King, Ramos may see the tough tackling Argentine, famed for his powerful shot, as perfect cover for Spurs’ soft defence.

"I am very comfortable at Getafe, but at the end of the season I will analyse the possibility to play for another team,” revealed Diaz.
“You always want to improve as a player so I hope I will be given the chance.
"I know that Tottenham have asked for me and there are other foreign clubs interested, but this depends on many things and I will not get carried away with anything."

Why is 'cata' in 's? I hope it is Spanish for 'Babyeater'- though I doubt it.

Just as long as it isn't short for 'catamite'. Catapult? Catalan? Catatonic? Catamaran? Catafalque?

Ageing MOR defender seeks cushty well paid semi-retirement in premiership reserves. We already have Rocha that does this for us.

These ones were players whore themselves out for a move, like Jarque was doing back in January, usually have the least truth to them.

Diaz is 10x the player Rocha is. Quick. Strong. Good in the air. Good at reading the game. 28/29 is hardly old. Would be a better option than Jarque in my opinion.

according to wiki he is more a RB than a CB, but can play both (as well as RWB). Could be a replacement for both rocha and shimbomba.

Argentine international Daniel Diaz has claimed Tottenham are interested in signing him.

The 29-year-old, known as Cata, only moved to Europe last year when Getafe snapped him up from Boca Juniors.

Since arriving in Spain Diaz has impressed with a number of commanding displays at the heart of Getafe's defence.

Juande Ramos was made aware of him earlier in the season by his Spanish contacts although he was not in charge of Spurs when Cata featured against them in their Uefa Cup win at White Hart Lane.

Interest

A host of clubs are now tracking him and he has confirmed that Spurs are one of them.

"I am comfortable at Getafe, but you always want to improve as a player so I hope I will be given the chance," he told the Daily Mirror.

"I know that Tottenham have asked for me and there are other foreign clubs interested but this depends on many things, so I will not get carried away."

have you even seen the guy play?

No. Wasn't commenting on quality but more the fact that if he's saying these things directly to the press then I believe he's posturing for a move away or trying to extract more money from his club. Neither of which confirms we are interested at all. History tells us that these sorts of comments don't come from players who end up at the Lane in a lilywhite shirt.

If he really is that good why's he only got 4 games for Argentina? Ok, they have got good defenders but still...
