So you can win 1p?

Lol. Exactly. Now with essentially 0 competition they are going to win the SPL by about 20 points, easy. If you bet 1,000 on them you'd probably only get $1,100 back, if that.

having Rangers out of the SPL is going to hit ratings hard, Celtic vs Rangers is like the only match i bother watching in that league. strange that the "overwhelming" vote was no, was thinking it's gotta be close.

This was the SFL vote today right? I think if they've said they have to go down to the 3rd div instead of the being parachuted into the 1st div, this actually increases the Newcos chances of getting straight back into the SPL. Unless the SPL have already voted no. Last I heard was that the SPL vote was being held on the 12th.

Bascially, unless the Newco ends up in the 3rd division - whether the reasons for them not doing so are predicated on the financial survival of others clubs or not - Scottish football is utterly dead.

The SFL vote is on the 12th, the SPL voted yesterday (I think).

Ah right, cheers. From what I gather in a rather emotional email from an old uni mate, he is saying the SFL - i.e. the diddy cubs - are being strong-armed into fudging it. Telling them that if Rangers are shoved into the div. 3, dozens of clubs will go to the wall. Stick 'em in div. 1, nudge nudge.

He's not a happy bunny.

A few div. 1 clubs have already said they oppose putting Rangers into div. 1 and some others have stated they'll consult their fans first, who'll most likely oppose the SPL's plan. The bizarre thing is the most recent poll of Rangers fans showed about 80% of them want to go down to div. 3 instead of starting at div. 1.

Right. The fans of all clubs, including the Rangers/Newco ones aren't the driving force behind this. The SKy TV deal is meant to have a clause in it guaranteeing a certain amount of OF games in it etc. Plus, most Scottish clubs are run on tight budgets, obviously not much room for large revenues etc. The Chairmen might be saying one thing publically and hoping they can get away with completely reversing that stance privately and have the fans just carry on as usual.

Huge mess and the SFA, SPL and possibly the SFL are all massive massive ****s. Apparently.

Be interesting to see how it all plays out. Not so much fun for those directly involved.

The genuine Rangers fans want to go back to division 3 and start from scratch , I think SKY are driving the go to Division 1 idea because they will wait 1 year with no Old Firm games but not 3.

The thing is the teams that voted Rangers out of the SPL are the ones that will suffer most with no SKY money

Can still see Rangers try to get into the English league now, maybe conference North

Poor, poor boring Club. It will go like this when you don't have a good sense of what a good team is, and paying high wages to players only you believe are good. With the name and everything - poor, poor boring management, who should never be involved in football.

As some of you may know, Ideal with antiquarian stuff (mostly books).
If anyone would like to donate a GRFC shirt, I would be most grateful, as I believe they will be very collectible on the antiques market in a few years - Thanks, SP (y)

Charles Green paid £2.7m for Ibrox players' contracts

http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/charles-green-paid-27m-for-ibrox-players-contracts.18130673?

CHARLES GREEN paid £2.75million for players' contracts as part of his consortium's £5.5m buyout of Rangers, it has been revealed.

The club's administrators, Duff & Phelps, have revealed a breakdown of the assets of the club, most of which related to their sale of Rangers to Sevco Scotland Limited.
Mr Green's consortium paid for the club's employees to transfer to his new company under the Transfer Of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations, which protects employees' terms and conditions of employment when a business is transferred from one owner to another.

it's getting stranger and stranger
