I'm no psychologist but I find watching Footballs fans' behaviours fascinating, literally 2 weeks ago when it looked like it was Richarlison and just tenuous links to Raphina there was a few fans trying to justify why Raphina is better, while the majority were very much in the "Richarlison has more versatility, I want him" camp, now because Arsenal are sniffing around Raphina suddenly it's flipped! ? ? Literally one rung above ants in a colony...

Both Richarlison and Raphina improve us, it's a toss up between them as they both offer different avenues to the same end goal of improving the squad and team, simple.

Edit: And to call Richarlison average is so funny
I think what you’ll find is that most football fans are the same, I see the same behaviour from Arsenal fans on Twitter as I do here.

It’s a coping mechanism - If we were linked heavily to Martinez tomorrow, most people would forget why they wanted Raphinha & Richarlison and jump on that train to say why he’s better than both, even though he’s a riskier option.

We have a new fella in charge of scouting so I don't really see why past failures abroad should mean we have to buy EPL proven especially when our last two signings from abroad essentially got us back into the champions league
We don't have to buy prem proven players. Of course there's a risk all transfers will flop but the risk is much lower if they've already proven themselves in the league. Besides, I can't really think of many players at their level and available from outside the premier league.

The reason is the EPL players we are after are proven in our league.

Not that complicated really.

When Tite picks his starting 11 for Brazil, he'll play Richarlison almost 100% of the time. Whereas, Jesus and Raphinha are more expendable.
Highly doubt this. Raphinha was used throughout the last year of qualifying while Richarlison didn't even make the squad for over half of them. He only brought Richarlison back in recently once Brazil were qualified and then playing easy friendlies.

Raphinha looks to have forced himself into Brazils first 11 while Richarlison is more of a squad player now.

Think this is possibly a case of Raphinha or Paqueta, and if I’m honest I would rather Paqueta.

Richarlison was injured that's why he wasn't selected

When you take a step back, Richarlison is the better fit for us and in Conte's system than Raphinha.
Not much doubt about this, but 70m for Richarlison is such a shit deal I just feel incredibly meh about the whole thing. I’d rather Zaha if we are going for a player with a face like a slapped arse that can play across the front line lol I think he’s probably a better player and wouldn’t cost silly money with a year left on his deal

Sure, mate. He's a good player but I honestly believe Richarlison would give us more.
He won't go missing in big games and hes the type to score a 'sweaty' goal against your biggest rivals to win the game.

Raphinha is more skilful but he's less adaptable and I'm not sure of he's a winner.

I believe Richarlison has a very strong attitude and is more of a winner.

It's the kind of signing Fergie would make when United were on top.
Fair enough mate. Hope you’re right

Don’t think we’d pay that. Especially as they also want one of our players.

Something like Winks and 25-30 million would be reasonable. If not there is more than likely better value to be had elsewhere. We’ll see what happens. Definitely no doom and gloom from me, we’ve done excellently so far this window. Hopefully Paratici can play a blinder and find a great player and deal with his multiple deal negotiations

Kick Zaha and often it upsets him and he sulks out of the game. It's known that he has a fragile temperament.

Richarlison dives a lot too, but he's far tougher mentally than Zaha. Raphinha is tougher than Zaha too.

Personally would prefer Richarlison to Raphinha. Been doing it longer in the PL for a shit team that has constantly changed managers.

I don't see how wanting our players has anything to do with it? We'd still lose £20m from Winks sale to another club so it's still money in our pocket that could have been used

Seems to me like Raph is waiting to see if Barca can come up with the cash for him. Could go all the way to deadline day given the financial situation there. Not worth the risk for us to wait that long IMO.

Still isn’t a better player than Zaha though and I feel like we are still missing that bit of magic. It either needs to come from an Eriksen type creator to break teams down or a Zaha/Raphinha that can beat multiple players and make something happen. Zaha had an excellent season last year and it’s seemingly gone under the radar a bit

It won’t, he’ll have probably signed for Arsenal by this time next week
