65m + is crazy for player in last yr, yes he is good, but nuts money. Suspect he will wangle his way to Barca even if that means a little less money for Leeds, esp if player digs his heels in.

He has two years left on his contract.

Got a funny feeling we might get Dybala instead on a free and spend big on Richarlison. It doesn't sound like Inter can get him and not sure where else he goes at this point. Hopefully Raphina goes to Barca and not one of our rivals.
I was thinking Neymar.

I remember Celtic accepted a relatively low up front fee for Tierney. One of the behind-the-scenes explanations at the time was that the club was worried that he would continue to break down.
Ah ok thanks mate. Seems they’re right

Again mate, we need to drop the notion of a starting XI altogether. No one is suggesting demoting Deki, but bringing in better players to strengthen the squad.

Have you looked at the fixture calendar? It's absolutely fucking brutal this year with the WC slotted in the middle there. Genuinely stupid. We're going to need to rotate constantly (think City) in order to avoid injuries, so wherever possible we need upgrades and better options across the pitch. No one came in into the window thinking that we needed a RW, but the fact is Raphinha is a huge upgrade on Moura (and can also play on the left), so if the option presents itself to make the move, we should go for it.

The biggest difference next season irrespective of the number of games we play is the fact that there will be five substitutions allowed.

If that had already been in effect last season, who could Conte have brought on to maintain or improve the starting eleven? Berj and Moura?

Just not good enough to make a consistent difference imo.

Quality in depth and not the number of games likely to be played will decide our destiny next season.

Who cares about what they're doing.

Couldn't agree more.

How could any fan not understand that Jesus wanted out to get more game time, something he would never get by a move to Spurs?

Incredible naivety from some fans who just can't fathom simple stuff out.

As much as I wouldn't want the scum to strengthen with Raphinha and get in any way close to us, as long as we do better business and are confident of staying ahead of them either way then it's possibly not the worst thing if they can at least sort out some of their deficiencies and be less of a soft touch. The sad reality, if we do indeed have any hope of winning the league in our lifetimes, is that we need at least a couple of other teams to step up and stop rolling over for City and Pool and handing them the points to run away.

It was pretty much us alone last season that even made it a title fight by stopping the two of them from nicking 10 points combined, and even then the both of them fucked off long into the distance. If Arsenal can get a bit better, but still be happily more shit than us, then I'll grit my teeth and stomach it, though for the above reasoning alone.

He’s 25 and scored 11 PL goals for a poor team last year as a winger. How is that 20-25m in today’s markets? Transfermarkt has him worth £40.5m, and Leeds don’t have to sell, hence his valuation
It was very much a tongue-in-cheek comment. ?

I would put a valuation of circa £40m on Raphinha, which matches Transfermarkt.

However, I think Phillips has been massively undersold at £45m, which is quite bewildering considering Man City's wealth. Based on fees paid for other top HG talent, there must have been teams willing to pay roughly 50% more for him (i.e. circa £70m, which is almost double Raphinha's value). Man City paid more for Walker, but the market has further inflated since then, Walker was older (27) and fullbacks tend attract lower fees than most positions. Unless there was a £45m release clause, whoever negotiated that deal for Leeds deserves to be sacked. If there was a release clause, whoever negotiated that contract deserves to be sacked.
