MOM was Adebayor. He was everywhere. Unfortunately he couldn't do it by himself. Special mentions for Siggy and Lennon for the amazing feat of remaining invisible for 90 minutes in full public view.
I would take 17th now if it guarenteed Siggy fucked off.... Absolute joke of a footballer !

Overall , what we're all maddest about is the 'giving up' final quarter of the match . I turned off at 85 so was spared the final 2 goals .

Spurs didn't give up til victory was hopeless . They battled away up til Vert's (6) slip denying Chelsea as we were
generally denied by them. Even stevens really tho hard to see where we were going to score from . We had some quiet performances , but overall we were heading for a poss 0-0 .

Fate took a hand and we're sensitive to thrashings these days , so depression hits . Timbo included obviously .

Its been a few weeks since my personal CL ambitions died so , I can deal with it ....I'm ready for the potential comedy of a resurgent Arse visit. ..and Benfica..We've only got a few players left standing , let's cheer 'em on .

Sherwood was bold and it worked for nearly an hour.
His response was that of a man
that knows his number has been called
and if he's going down he's taking a few with him.

Lloris........5.....Horribly exposed but two through his legs? Are we permitted frogs' leg jokes?
Naughton.6+...Not too bad at all. Steady. If you can keep your head....
Daws........6.....Erratic but after the first 5 minutes not bad.
Kaboul......6... Harsh decision but no better than Daws.
Verts........5.....Very poor judgement and attitude thereafter. Doesn't like left back, we get it
Sandro......6.....Bit wild and certainly no centre half. No lack of effort. Tim wouldn't dare call him out.
Benteleb...6.....Should have set us up for the opener. Tries. Decent game.
Walker......5.... Doesn't have the skill or the awareness to play there. Not good.
Lennon......4....Ditto. Don't suppose either of them demanded to play out of their usual positions.
Adebayor...7....Certainly put the work in. Needs someone closer to him.
Sigurdsson.4...Nearly forgot all about him. Good player but probably not in the Prem.

I only watched the first half which was tactically inventive. I think it should put to bed Sherwood's perceived tactical ineptness. Seeing walkers ability to carry the ball and athleticism and playing him forwards was a master stroke

Next time you are going to only watch the first half of a game, can you let us know in advance so the rest of us can benefit from your wisdom?

I think it did show that Sherwood/Ramsey were at least tactically thinking and trying to be flexible.

You were doing so well...

Walker will make an excellent wide right forward once he learns to pass, cross, shoot ... oh and grows a brain.

Isn't it amazing how when attacking Walker struggles with the most basic bodily functions but manages to come up with ever more creative ways to commit cluster fuckicide at the other end.

You were doing so well...

Walker lacks a lot for a fully competent attacking player of course but those things you can pick up. He has outstanding physique and ball carrying. If only he can start using his brain more and taking some time to turn and evaluate his options he could be moulded to something bigger.

I never thought he could be used that way. Do you not think it was Sherwood's good insight?

M feeling more optimistic. Never thought we could even get a draw against a solid chelsea. As you say we melted after we knew we had lost the game; it's not for great viewing but doesn't influence the result. On the other hand now that Sherwood know he is a dead man walking we might try ever more inventive things to test how far we can push our players off their comfort zones. I think it's great as long as we beat the smaller sides which should be sufficient to get us 5th

Walker will never ever ever ever be a competent attacking player. He's a full back, no more no less.

He's a million miles behind the likes of Marcelo, Coentrao, Alves etc in terms of being a genuine goal threat.

I think the best you can say is at least it showed that some tactical thought had gone into the equation. Defensively it had reasonable connotations, but I don't think it helped us offensively at all.

I much preferred the 433, and would have gone with that yesterday. I think Sandro was like Custer at Littlebig horn at times and we were creating fuck all.

The problem is, because of what happened, the fuckups and sending off etc, it's now incredibly hard to evaluate that game tactically. We started shakily, next 35 minutes were at least diligent in the middle of the pitch. The rest is moot. Would the game plan have worked ? Who knows now ?

I feel that with 4 players back from injury, it was just a matter of time before Chelsea's superior organisation would have been decisive. It's almost inevitable that we would have tired late on.
Chelsea's entire strategy seems to involve being the perfect hunters: Do what you like & we'll contain you, the second we smell blood we'll attack & kill.

Ironically, it's likely that no strategy was gonna get us out of there with any more than a point and few of us truly believed we could get more than that anyway. That it became a farce compounded by Tim's meltdown has turned what was already a zero pointer into what seems like worse.

Must admit when I saw the teamsheet I was shocked that we were starting with so many players short of match fitness. Chelsea have enough quality players to bring 2/3 game changers on late into any game. In general they usually finish games much stronger than they start

That's the thing.

I'm not Sherwood averse per se but he's had enough games now & I think he's guessing.
It's all very well playing Championship Manager and putting together formations and chopping and changing your side to suit but when it's an actual group of players & real strategy & you have no experience of actually doing the damn job, it starts to show.

His team selections have been as bizarre and unfathomable as Andre's ever were but at least with Andre, despite the ultimate failure, you could see what he was trying to do.

His loyalty to Lennon is unfathomable, as is that to Sigurdsson when fit.

Compare the Chelsea line-up to ours. Every player fit and playing in a position you'd expect with tactics and a system. That we matched them for an hour was creditable but the disarray that followed was as ludicrous as it was inevitable. Why did Sandro drop to centre back when we had 4 defenders on the pitch? Withdraw Sigurdsson for Paulinho as he did and go:

Lloris
Walker/Dawson/Verts/Naughton
Paulinho/Bentaleb/Sandro
Lennon (or Sig)
Adebayor

Three tight in midfield playing on the counter, we're not winning but at least we have players in their positions and shouldn't get fucked. Chelsea were happy with 2-0 FFS! That it became 4 is just a reflection of the confusion on the pitch and square pegs in round holes. Individual mistakes borne of a lack of trust in their system & the ethos. Eyes off the ball.

Where are the instructions from the bench? 'Here you are Paulinho, mate, get stuck in...'

Walker in CM!
You wouldn't even try that in Champ. Man.
So, so naive.

If Sherwood had reason to be annoyed it should have been at himself for the basic errors he has made that compounded an already difficult situation.

And Levy can take his share. Should have just been up front and called him Interim Tim and not created the stupid situation we have now with a lame duck coach.

Don't know why you feel so pessimistic. Granted he lacks basic technique/brain but he has more than enough physicality to compensate. He tries hard. So he's learning and willing to take on more. He has been consistent this season and probably our best defender.

I think he is someone we can develop more in terms of challenging him to do different things.

Note on the other hand i dont think the same on Lennon. Some people earn this, i think Walker has. I think Lennon hasn't.
