Naughton looked in good shape.
Soldado when given the ball quickly is very classy and dangerous.
Stambouli was solid
Dembele did well in tight spots
Townsend played ok, but is still too aimless for me - will hopefully improve
Paulinho's pass to their player was dogwank.
Vorm was outstanding,

Chadli for Eriksen & im with you

Agree if we're talking about rewarding good performances. Lamela (without going on the stats thread) around 3 goals and 8 assists, Kane 8 goals and Chadlie about 5 goals and a couple of assists(?) have definitely been more productive than Eriksen. He would be the one to get dropped on that basis.

Let's not go crazy polishing our helmets, Brighton were very poor, and more importantly they stood off us and let us play.

So as I said earlier... The boys that impressed tonight have to start Sunday. Stambouli in for capoue. Soldado for ADE, moussa for mason, Kane for erikson, naughton for dier and fazio for kaboul. Make a statement MO PO, players need to know if they do the business they keep the shirt and vice versa if they don't perform they are out the side.

Moussa for Mason?

I'd like to see Mason alongside a more naturally defensive player like Stambouli, could push on more, knowing Benji is sitting looking the fill the gaps. I just get the feeling that he's not sure when to push forward with Capoue.

Moussa was solid tonight but Mason helps our midfield tick a lot faster and definitely doesn't deserve to lose his place IMO

He's been excellent (mason) but on Sunday 2nd half like the others went missing a bit like most of the others ! Just think we don't need to play mason week in week out and kill him slowly. Put him in as and when. Moussa and benji Looked solid tonight and I know if I were Aston villas cm 2 I wouldnt want to play against them Sunday.

Why would you replace someone that has been consistently excellent since coming in? Not to mention he was by far our best player vs Newcastle.
Moussa kept us ticking tonight and can't remember him giving the ball away. He gets the ball back for us so often as well which goes under the radar but is so important. I like partnerships in there and I like the look of moussa and benji.

Everyone played well but Soldado, Naughton, and Stambouli were the standout players.

Vorm also looked very assured in goal in the couple instances he was required.

While I agree with your assessment of Mason's situation, "he was by far our best player vs Newcastle" is stretching it a bit. Rose by unanimous observations and comments was voted MOM here, and even if he was not, it would have been a close call

Lamela made the difference when he came on today.
We lack any creativity without him. He made both goals from exactly the same position. He still makes mistakes and doesn't quite look up to speed at times but he is class imo.

Came on and made the difference again. For me he should be the first choice at number 10. He could go on to be very similar to silva in that he can drift about in that little pocket finding space and making things happen. If he gets the ball there 20 times he will make 5 chances.
