Both teams were poor for some reason. It wasn't just ours that didn't turn up. There were very few players that had a decent performance.
Even Origi, who scored barely got a single accurate pass. Kane, Salah, Son, Firmino, Eriksen, Alli, all the top players were average. Mane and Allison were the only two above average.
Agree. Think it was the three and a half week lay off from any competitive football after a grueling, intense season. The whole game, not just the result, felt like a damp squib.

Ultimately the difference was the finishing. They took one of the only 2 real clear chances they had, we didn’t take one of the handful we had.

Absolutely gutted. For me the better team lost today because we had one of those games where our frontline couldn’t hit a cows arse with a banjo

First half of shape was decent, the players just didn't show up. Kane, Alli, Son and Eriksen were all bad. Aldweireld, Vertonghen, Sissoko and Winks player scared. Their fist instincts were to play it backwards and more often than not it ended up with Lloris. This despite Trippier having the freedom or Madrid on the right. The movement from the front four wasn't good either which didn't help. Might have been over coached.

Second half Son moved to the right side (he actually did at the end of the first half but the shape didn't really change) but played much too narrow. We had no width from the front four. Every time we play three narrow behind a striker or build up play is bad. We can't play through to the three behind the striker because players are on top of each other + only one man in midfield who's easy to prevent getting the ball, meaning it's often a 40 yard pass to play it to an attacker. It allows the defence to play narrow and you can't expect Rose and Trippier to constantly provide the width high up pitch with little cover in behind. We had a couple of opportunities to get in behind from long balls, but that was about it.

Lloris 6 - Dealt with corners well enough. Couple of times he could have swept better. Decision making with the ball at his feet is still shit.

Trippier 7 - Defended well enough. Crossing wasn't great.
Aldweireld 7 - Good defensively. Too scared on the ball.
Vertonghen 7 - Same.
Rose 8 - Defended well and done fine offensively.

Sissoko 6 - Ok. His limitations were on show.
Winks 6 - Ok. Don't see why people are raving about the performance. Couple of good bits but didn't/doesn't do enough.

Eriksen 5 - Bit better when he dropped deeper but not good enough.
Alli 4 - Awful
Son 4 - Same

Kane 5 - Not good.

Rose, Winks, Toby and Jan were only players who turned up.

Still proud of them for getting where they did but that mentality needs to change.

Too right. Mentality is all wrong.

In a way I’m glad we “lost when we deserved to win”, as opposed to “lost when we deserved to lose”.

The look on Kane’s face at the end said it all.

We missed a big opportunity. This should toughen us up and harden our resolve immeasurably.

Toby my MOTM, but honourable mentions to Winks and Rose.

Man of the match - Rose

Mistake of the match - Kane starting.

How Moura can start on the bench baffles me.

Its a huge shame that the hierarchy of the club is such that Kane HAS to play in the Cup final of Cup finals despite not being matchfit.

Its also a huge shame that Moura of all people started from the bench despite his obvious heroics and general contribution in the semis.

I love my club and am so proud that they reached the final of the CL, but how we decided to gamble and played Kane in our most important match in history just goes beyond belief. And not taking him off when he was clearly off the pace is even more bewildering.

We had the best ever chance to write history but we blew it with these kind of hierarchical decisions.

TTID, though. TTID

5's all round, abject performance from all who played, handing a MOTM to anyone is just as pathetic as taking a losers medal.

Really feel for Lucas, was horrible seeing him in tears, he got us through the group stages with his goal at barca, got us to the final, only to find himself benched for the final, hindsight is a great thing but i truly feel sorry for him more then anyone

Lloris 7 did well, couldn't do anything about the goal

Trips 7 better than usual! Sometimes sloppy but didnt get don't by Mane and didn't look like our weak link for once
Toby 7 solid
Verts 7 solid
Rose 8 very good when he got given the ball, maybe we should've used him more?

Winks 8 MOTM got out of rouble cleverly at times, so calm on the ball, great display so MOTM
Sissoko 7 unfortunate for the handball that brings him down from an 8 otherwise bossed Liverpool's midfield

Son 6 probably our biggest threat and he had a poor game....
Eriksen 6 offered very little
Alli 6 flicks but nothing of substance

Kane 5 agreed with him starting but in hindsight should've been a sub and come on

Subs n/a

That's harsh. I don't blame any of our players for that goal. The ball was in the air with no pace and it was one of those things. Nice finish too. If there is blame it was the fact that Rose never needed to head it out for a corner in the first place, but I don't really blame Rose for that as it was safety first.

Rose deserves a 7, the rest all 5s and 6s.
Just not enough for a Liverpool team that was at no time really challenged in a CL finale.

On paper this was our strongest Line up taking the whole season in account, still think Lucas should have earned himself a start more than any other on the pitch.

It was kind the result and nervy mental game i expected, still feel completely empty and broken.

Hooking Winks was not the answer. He was the lynchpin in midfield.

Winks was slightly edged by Rose, who was balls out all game.

Kane wasn’t fit. So disappointed in Eriksen, Alli and Son. All three were guilty of panicking at crucial moments, making wrong choices and pissing away opportunities. We needed more from our match winners.

Should of could of it was great getting to the final well done brilliant but in reality it masked a multitude of failures 20 defeats in all competitions . The game as always against the premier league top 4 teams you're are left scratching your head as to how we lost the game. All in all its so sad losing a final but Tottenham Hotspur really need to step on the gas and keep pushing forward it not the time to feel sorry for oneself we are on the right track reaching finals being in CL it all good........

Nobody should blame Harry Kane.

The cycle of this team has come to an end

Shame we can't individually rate the Liverpool players. I honestly think that was one of their worst performances of the season.

Eriksen poor again, I posted here ages ago he wants Madrid but they don't want him. This was his opportunity to make a mark and he flunked it.

Flat track bully, get rid.

Yes , everyone is regretting Kane starting now . Before the match it was quite different ,the odd few , me included (and Glenn)were set against it . Kane (5) played exactly now as he's played all this calendar year . In the build-up to the final, one station had an older Pool-Spurs match on repeat and the difference in Kane is crystal clear .

Our dreadful '19 run initially had Kane back from injury playing precisely as in the final , simply not his goal-machine self. Weirdly with him in this mood , Sonny's(6) game seems to suffer too and so it was again .

Heart over head it looks like from Poch. Of course he has access to Kane in training , but whatever info he picked up from that...was false and he broke up our amazing forward line to placate Kane . Clear mistake imo , the downside of player power. We barely created a chance .
Doubly sad because Pool were not at it today . A fierce running , speedy Spurs forward line could well have snatched this for us .

Anyway , well done all for making the final ,and mebbe next year .
