A healthy dose of context to the injury/ suspension situation and the quality of the opposition required.

So in that respect, our 2 makeshift CB's deserve some serious plaudits. Royal was struggling but he just never stops trying. Davies was his usual calming and dependable self. 9's from me.

The only players I can really fire some, possibly undeserved criticism at, are Bissouma, Gil and young Brennan. Brennan for being very wasteful on a couple of attacks when we were seeking a way back in. Gil, although a lovely bit of skill for the first goal was totally off the required standard although can't fault his effort. Bissouma, a shame. He just wasn't at the races, he did have a spell where I thought he was going to boss it then faded and made a howler for their goal. One eye on afcon? Hope he works it out.

The rest were fine. But please sort out the offside Ange. Kulu for one and there was another with son +1. Small margins!

No injuries!!!

A superb second half.

Walker’s a tough opponent. He lacks physicality but he could still come good. Some good touches and didn’t look intimidated.
Gil is capable of moments of quality. However looking at the entire match walker was too good for him. He will face lesser full backs on another day. As things stand he isn’t a Europe-level winger.

His only decent moment. Way too light weight for this league. Fair enough it led to a goal but needs to do more if he will make it with us.
It’s his second start under this management..playing against one of the best right backs to play in the prem! At least give him some credit

We are down to bare bones away to City and he has barely started for us in a full strength XI. Wait until he plays at home when we are full strength and see how he develops. A lot (most) of this forum were lumping Lo Celso in the same bracket as N'Dombele until very recently. Don't write him off.

I’m not writing him off. If he could match walker then he would be too good for us.
Just saying what I see. He’s not a CL level winger now. What he could be you never know. But the same can be said of most of our squad.

Kulu, Gio and Porro were impressive.

Kulu tireless and got the equaliser Through sheer effort and aggression.

Gio the only player that could cope with the City press and great finish.

Porro everywhere and dealt with Doku well apart from the one he crashed onto the bar, they were often doubling up down the left and he coped and got forward plenty.

Incredibly proud of all of them. We've got it right this time. We have the right guy in charge and even some players previously thought of as write-offs are delivering in the most trying of times.

I have all the patience in the world RN. I love my club again.

Gave it to Emerson for his second half as I said I would in the game thread - but Kulu was a deserving MOM.

The Gil narrative is wild. He has been good last two games given he's never had a run at it. He was subbed because Biss/Gio/Kulu couldn't get control of the midfield and PEH was needed (notice the boo boys aren't getting on his back this week)

Gil pressed hard; worked hard; created our first goal and broke even against Foden/Silva in those contests. He was, unsurprisingly, dominated in contests versus Walker who is an absolute beast of a right back and was wrtitten off at Spurs probably by the same people writing Gil off...

Lo celso has literally performed way better than Gil the last two games thats why, theyve pretty much been thrown in together.

I actually think he has potential i thought the last two weeks hes looked ok, but at the same time we're not really looking for ok so i understand the doubts.
