Friedel : 7 . Nothing he could do about the goals , at least one truely superb save . Going to be hard for Gomes to reclaim the jersey .

Walker : 5 . Lennon had to rescue him after he was turned

Kaboul : 3 . Was nowhere for the goals left Dawson exposed like he used to before went to Pompey

Dawson : 7 . Almost scored with his head . Impossible job with Kaboul back to his lackadaisical worst . Kept fighting to the end . A character .

BAE : 7 . Also kept fighting to the end . A character and solid even with the Timothy Atouba style overplaying .

Bale : 8 first half 2 second . Unplayable in first half but bad decision making . Anonymous second half . Fitness ?

Lennon : 6 . A threat in first half . Poor in second . Fitness ?

Livermore : 5 . Didn't disgrace himself on his biggest stage yet .

Jimmy Kranjar : 4 . Had his moments but missed his opportunity to make a case for himself . Questionable desire .

VDV : 8 . A lone figure upfront . Kept going till the end . A warrior who almost scored .

Defoe : 4 . Great techinique against the post . Did a great job of trying to lull their defenders into a false sense of security

Pav : 3 . Abject lack of desire . Very disappointing .

Huddlestone : 3 . Lack of desire .

Corluka : 5 . Probably brought on because proved he could do a job against Ashley Young 2 seasons ago . Solid but could have tried harder

Overall : badly miss King and Gallas . Not match fit yet . Too many journeymen .

Positives : good going forward when we feel like it

Our annual trip to Old Trafford where we tend to put on a good show for a bit but then give up when we let one in. Groundhog day or what.

First half 7, second half performance (I use that word loosely) - 4.

Reality is though, that United look a very, very good team. Young and hungry. Can't see beyond them for title number 20.

Baffled by Harry's tactics once more. Defoe up top on his own has never and will never work against a decent team (Hearts pub team doesn't count). Doesn't hold it up, doesn't impose himself and doesn't offer our full backs or wingers an outlet when they get wide. On loads of occasions, Lennon and Bale had the ball but didn't bother putting a cross in as there wasn't a cat in hell's chance of JD or VDV winning a header. Crazy.

Bringing Hudd on and playing him with VdV was basically Harry just giving United the freedom of Old Trafford to walk through our half. We were only 1 down at the time.

We need Sandro to get fit and to sign Lass and Ade. Then, maybe then we'll have a solid, physical base of a team.

Friedel - 8 - Our 50 year old keeper did well. Wish he'd pull his shorts down a bit.

Walker - 6 - Wasn't well. Why was he playing if he was unwell?

BAE - 7 - Usual self, played well but made a lapse for the first goal. Standard.

Dawson - 6 - Ok. Needs to be upgraded.

Kaboul - 7 - Awesome first half, fell asleep for thir first goal. Cost us. He would be my first choice CB.

Lennon - 4 - Woeful. He fucked about with it for about 10 seconds when he could have slid it to VDV. The ball he ended up blasting across wasn't even aimed to anyone. Did all his best work running back towards our goal.

Bale - 5 - Teams just show him inside now. Can he find another trick?

Livermore - 6- Plugged away, some nice interchange with Niko and VdV first half. Laboured 2nd half.

Niko - 5 - Not a Premiership CM.

VdV - 6 - Supremely greedy but can almost understand it when the only option is to pass to Defoe and Lennon and never get it back. Extra mark for telling Nani to fuck off.

Defoe - 3- No presence, no outlet. Even when he got it around the box he seemed unwilling to shift and shoot. Please sign a fucking decent striker Levy. Did well to hit a post when he had the whole goal to aim at.

Ho hum.

Ultimately, our season won't be defined by losing to United away as we always lose here. We seriously need Sandro or Diarra or both before City. We need to stop playing so open away from home and shore things up. I know we have injuries but this problem harks back to last year with Luka playing in a Central Midfield two.

Time to earn your money Harry.

Time to spend your money Daniel.

Each to their own and all but those ratings are mind boggling, some of them anyway

Harsh ratings or more the reasoning for Pav and Huddlestone. Very harsh rating for Kaboul and god knows how Bale was worthy of an 8.

The OP's ratings are woeful.

I thought kaboul had a great game tbh. VDV was just shooting on sight, but probably the one player who looked like he might do something, definetly not a 8 though.

We conceded 3, but our best players were dawson, kaboul and friedel. Our midfield gave them NO protection. Thats why we lost, we lost the midfield battle.

I didn't give Bale an 8 .

I gave him 8 for the first half and 2 for the second .

Kaboul 3 and Dawson 7? MAdness.

I gave Dawson 7 on the basis that he was one of only 4 players to keep fighting till the end and almost scored .

Kaboul could not repeat first half performance and left Dawson to do it all on his own .

That was perhaps slightly generous for Dawson and slightly harsh on Kaboul .

The bottom line remains that Kaboul did not keep it going till the end and Dawson was left exposed again .

Kaboul was class for most of the game. In fact the whole defence was for the majority. I wouldnt bother adjusting the ratings too much once the first man u goal went in - we lost our midfield. Good to see we went for it with the subs, but IMO it killed us

Friedel 8 (Motm) - Made some good saves, could have been worse if it wasnt for him.

Walker 5 - Gave Young too much room, looked nervy. No attacking threat today, will improve Im sure.
Dawson 5 - At fault for last goal, needs to be more commanding IMO.
Kaboul 5 - At fault for first goal, improving all the time though but marked down because of mistake.
BAE 6 - Poor clearance started the move which led to first goal, cant remember him doing much else wrong.

Kranjcar 6 - Battled well in difficult match 1st half, over-run in centre mid eventually but received no help from Wingers in tracking back so midfield was horribly open. we should have started with three centre mids.

Livermore 6 - See Kranjcar.

Van der Vaart 6 - Not his best game, but one of the only ones to keep running till the final whistle, some of our other players could watch and learn. Which leads me onto.....

Bale 4, and Lennon 3 - Pathetic displays from both of them. Bale is coasting it living off last seasons plaudits, doesnt put in any effort to track back which puts pressure on the centre mids and left back. Didnt get involved at all tonight. Lennon was gutless when it comes to physical challenges and also stayed out on the touchline hiding from the game. Plus wasted an unbelievable chance to go 1-0 up. Both need an almighty kick up the ass.

Defoe 5- Some good moments first half, greedy at times though and became less and less involved. Need a new striker desperately.

Corluka 5
Hudd 5
Pav 5

omg some of these ratings are mad.

Friedel 7- No chance with the goals few good saves.
Ekotto 7- Solid as usual good running woth the ball to relieve pressure
Dawson 6- Good first half but lost out in the air twice for two goals due to positional incompetence.
Kaboul 8- For me by far our MOM
Walker 5- Poor! Got run around by young.
Bale 6- Looked threatening but made poor decisions
Lennon 4- Terrible game, both going forward and defensively. Didnt seem to want it.
Livermore 5- Looked out of his depth for me, not awful by any means and he was hampered by having the work of 2 CM due to krancjar. They walked thru our cm though all second half.
Niko 5- Good with the ball, awful without it. CM was where game was lost last 30.
VDV 7- Great for 60 mins, poor after. More down to Harry playing a tired VDV cm. Harry was tactically inept as per usual awful subs.
Defoe 6- Had no chance with no support. Held the ball up well, made a few poor decsions though.

The game was lost as we tired second half anderson and cleverly walked through and meant that the cbs had to commit which made the space for the strikers. Rooney was class dropping off but it worries me harry hadnt identified this to the point that he had a cm picking him up. Gap between CB and CM was a disgrace. Good for an hour but we dropped off. Im angry at modric leaving us in the lurch with no cm rather than angry at the cm that played. Were always gonna struggle away with those two in the centre.
