just trawled thro' 7 pages on Holtby, some real crackers in there - but it seems there are a couple of sensible ones after all. I submit this post to prove my point:

Come on, get real.

Never mind if Rodgers 'wanted' him or her or whatever. We signed the England U21 captain for 16m. They signed the German U21 captain for free.

They are clearly much better managed than we are, and it shows in multiple ways.

They are way ahead of us in the league table, even though their overall wage bill is far lower than ours.

Our club has been managed by two opportunistic American clowns who almost ruined us. Then we got more responsible but utterly inexperienced owners, who gave Kenny more than enough rope to hang himself (and he certainly did). And now we have an inexperienced rookie manager who is way ... way out of his league. Our transfers keep being lousy... mostly over-hyped and over-priced English mediocrity. Spurs are miles ahead of us at the moment, a blind man could see that.

It's good to know that there's a few sensible ones, but I'm more entertained by the ones who are fucking nuts. Guess it's time to head on over to Rawk and read that thread!:)

This is genuine RAWK, notice the bitterness slowly creep into his post.

Absolutely gutted. He's a brilliant player and going cheap. Would be twice the coup Ince is and half the price. Would make the bitters absolutely furious if we had got him too. Oh well, let's hope I'm wrong and he rots on the Spurs bench along with all our other targets.

Also how much is Tom Ince going to cost because 2 x Free is still free lol.

Short memories, them lot. How easily they seem to forget some of our other 'stellar' deals... Can you say, 'Bentley'?

Given the overpriced shit Commoli bought for them too I'd imagine they sympathise in that department.

This is a great post :)

Cannot understand the hysteria some posters display when a player signs for another club especially when that player is an unknown quantity in our league. I have never seen Holtby play, like i'd never seen Sahin before he came here and yet he was a must for our club prior to his arrival. His performances have been underwhelming. Holtby like every other player coming from abroad has a lot to prove. I'm sure he has talent but if City, Utd, Chelsea, Arse, ourselves aren't interested then that for me is a bigger indicator of his quality than some on here would have me believe.

After the excessive fees and salaries our club has paid in recent years for mediocrity, I for one understand the careful consideration that FSG and most importantly, BR is giving to transfers. We used to have a reputation for getting value for money and buying hungry players-but the sky generation are seduced by the reputation of 'stars' who have yet to achieve anything in the game.

Not long ago we went close to being declared insolvent, now we live to our means. That in itself is progress. We will be successful through evolution not revolution and paying excessive amounts for players. Its where we are at-if you can't live with it then I suggest you quit supporting the club or jump ship for somewhere else because the frustration will eat you up and you will become a sad, bitter and twisted fan/poster. Nothing the club does will ever be good enough. Thats not for me and never will be.

So Holtby chose-if indeed he had a choice- somewhere else so what?

"If a player doesn't want to come here, then he's not worth getting saddened for. If I was a young midfielder, I'd choose to play and learn from legends like Gerrard rather than train with Huddlestone and Dembele......"

I see we're going to pay Holtby 90K/week.. Heh. I seriously doubt it, but it also makes me laugh because that's what they were paying Joe Cole... :ROFLMAO:

I've seen him play maybe 10 times. I haven't seen him do anything that would make me think he's even 20% as good as Mario Gotze, and since we are LFC I want us to get the best so I think we should save up and get Gotze instead,
