jose manuel pinto got 2 games for simulating the referees whistle, this wasnt planned by a official of fcb or guardiola didnt tell him to do it.

xabi alonso and ramos should get the same 2 game penalty(the last group game and rd 16) and Mourinho fined/suspended and Madrid as a club warned about future conduct.

the catalan press was having a joyous time regarding this today

Look, fifa/uefa are a bunch of scum dinosaurs who are slow to update the game and should be shot.

Fact: Madrid played by the rules, and unless there is an official rule somewhere that clearly states that intentionally getting booked is not allowed, they should frankly be applauded for good tactics.

I agree with EK. They should be applauded, Mourinho is thinking ahead, the sort of winning mentality and foresight that has got him where he is. I would do the same thing if I was in their position, regardless of whether my manager told me to or not, I would get myself suspended for the meaningless game.

I'm more on the fence about Pinto, it is genius, but it is kind of cheating as well because there is no way to distinguish between his and a referee's whistle.

I also wouldn't call it a scandal, most players do it if they're intelligent enough, and Beckham even admitted to getting sent off/booked for England so he could serve a suspension at an appropriate time.

If Bill Nicholson was alive today what would he think of it? He would hate it, along side the ultra negative Mourinho. Its against the spirit of the game, i for one don't like it, within the rules seems questionable as the rules do not cover it. But it dosn't sit well with me.

I think it's wrong.

Although whilst it's not actually breaking any laws, it is a form of cheating.

This.

It's a dishonourable practice. No player should set out to do anything other than play the game to the best of their ability.

Its against the spirit of the game really, in other sports such as Cricket it would not be tolerated or tried.

Basically Alonso and Ramos both had been booked and were at risk of getting banned if they picked up further bookings in the knockout stages. So they intentionally got themselves sent off knowing that their next group game is a dead rubber as they have already qualified top of their group.

They managed to get themselves sent off by taking the piss with their "time wasting"

Clever play. Dani Alves did the same sort of thing last season, so I dont know why SAB is complaining. Dani Alves got himself intentially booked in injury time against Mallorca earning him a suspension against Athletic Bilbao, which meant he was back in time for El Clasico. Funnily enough both Ramos and Alonso did the same thing before that game aswell, both getting booked in the Madrid derby, missed the Racing game and returned for El Clasico.

It hardly a new concept.

1 huge difference. pep guardiola didnt instruct alves to do it. it wasnt premeditated.

what pinto did is no different. it is against the spirit of the rules. he got a 2 match ban fair enough. same punishment to alonso and ramos

It was obviously to make fun of one of the ball boys who, they learned earlier in the day, was unable to whistle because of wonky teeth that he was unable to get corrected as his family were poor.

How do you know Pep didn't instruct Dani Alves to do that in the dressing room?

Besides, its still the same thing whether the manager told him to do it or not. Hell we dont know how many managers tell their players to get other players booked, look for penalties, kick players like Bale to stop him playing etc etc.

The only thing with this situation was just how obvious they made it that they wanted to get sent off.

Tough one for the ref in this instance, as if it'd been me refereeing such a game with such blatant sportsmanship i'd have simply not booked them.

Jose and RM are too big for Fifa to handle; so they'll escape with a no proof verdict.

I've always hated Jose and if one really think about it, it was after his appointment that Chelscum players started to dive and swarm the ref if decisions went against them. So I say Jose is the Special One in cheating.
