It's odd when you think about.

Dubai becomes a major tourist destination etc. Clubs start going there to train. Where is the impetus to go to Dubai coming from? Travel agents? Money-men at the club thinking they can expand fan base? etc.

How did it become a common thing to go to Dubai in the middle of a season?

I assumed it had something to do with training in the heat, and getting fitness and endurance levels up. I have no idea how that would benefit in the prem seeing as most of the matches are played in the winter.

Again, thank the lord for Levy, who clearly had the handbrake firmly on with Harry.

His QPRtenure has played entirely into the hands of the naysayers and those that were fearful when he came to Spurs.

That he did well for us on a tight rein just masked that this is how he runs things when given carte blanche.

I almost feel sorry for QPR fans :)

Is anyone really surprised by this story ? I wonder how long before the penny drops with the press in general. Redknapp is a fraud who cocked up the one big job he had. Manager for what 30 years ? and nothing other than one lucky FA Cup win.

Fuck me.

I was going to write a reasoned response to this article to try and engage in a bit of back of forth. But with muppets like you in the thread what's the point?

You think thats bad Brian Clough did arguably the same if not worse before European finals but this is poor by harry considering the reaction to the trip to Dublin:ninja:

There is a massive difference between Harry and Clough, firstly one should have been England manager...

Anyway Clough got the Forest players a bit drunk before their European Cup finals. because there was so much nervous excitement that they would have had no sleep and besides, they won it back to back!
QPR players should be so depressed that sleep shouldn't be an issue because they're on the verge of being dumped out of the league and the club will be having to prepare to instigate a fire sale

no different to end of season tours, however they come about. Sponsors, agents, middlemen representing one side or the other do a deal. Football is on all the time here, one channel or another. Adverts featuring footballers for Pepsi or Pringles or Nokia. Anything and everything.

Dubai and Qatar work well because it is warm when Europe is freezing, the facilities are good, the organisers usually very accommodating and it helps spread their brand. They organise mini tournaments for all the clubs staying. We had Wigan come to Muscat last season, Ali Al Habsi is the Oman goalie. Wigan played a friendly vs a select XI of the national squad, they won 1-0 and it was a crappy bobbly goal.

Dubai and Qatari's ministries of tourism help a lot, and the ministry of sport... it's all tied together anyway. Perhaps some endorsements ahead of World Cup votes or other such things.

Redknapp was in Dubai on holiday with his wife some time ago, maybe one of the international breaks when still Spurs manager. I bet he gets approached, or his agent does ahead of time to do a deal when he arrives. Sam Allardyce does meet n greets in the bars, too. Same as the Q&As. I bet they get paid for it. Or a free stay. Or both.

Bit against the run of play.
QPR mate those stories were largely exaggerated.

Firstly you are wrong, both managers should of been wrong unless you rate the numpty roy

Secondly I agree but was just highlighting how much footy has changed but i would disagree with some of what you said and add with the mind games by cloughie

Finally the story is a load of bollocks apparently with several teams being there at the same time tbh

Rumour has it that the agent referred to (By Harry) that posed as a player for the Mirror was our good friend Kia.

They clearly need to get wankered before every match. Well done for spotting what was missing, H.

Surely morale plays a massive part here. If the players enjoyed themselves and became closer knit as a team then that would outweigh the tired training sessions?

However, some reports talk of different cliques. Without strong leadership this sort of situation is more likely to exacerbate a divisive Lord of the Flies type dynamic.

I don't know if Ryan has seen this but HR said at the end of the transfer window about it being like gang warfare with agents and he also says this story is down to a disruptive agent.
It sounds like some of his players have got some real gits handling their affairs.

QPR are in 11th place since January 1st, and 14th from Dec 1st. It may not be over for Harry yet. I have a lot of respect for the guy, he did give us a lot of good times, and I hope he survives the drop.
