Failures:
Boogers, Abou, Kitson, Baros, Benjani, Nugent, Utaka, Lua Lua, Douala, Radacoiu, Futre, Suker, Ian Wright, Andy Cole, Crouch, Defoe, Keane

Successes:
Hartson, Di Canio, Kanoute, Kanu

Looking back at his past clubs he seems to have a major failing in this department, even before he came to us. I wonder why he particularly struggles to judge them.

I wouldn't say Defoe is a failure. He did well at Portsmouth and in years 2008 and 2009 at Spurs. And I wouldn't say Crouch is a failure. I'm not too sure about the rest of the "failures", but in his defense good strikers are difficult to find, but you're right he has signed a few shit ones in his past. Btw, are those all the strikers Harry has signed in his career?

Two words:

Titi. Camara.

You've been harsh referring to some of those as failures though.

There are some awful signings there.
I can understand now why he relies on other people to make a call.

Defoe wasn't a failure. He scored a lot of goals last year.

If you judge a player on their worst seasons then I guess Palacios was a failure and so was Gomes?

Some of those "failures" are harsh. Didn't he sign Yakubu too? He was pretty successful.

Defoe did ok at Porstmouth and they made a few £m selling him on. Other than his first 3 months, he's been very poor for us though.

Crouch has had a good CL campaign this year, but has done nothing more.

There are other worse forwards he signed at West Ham and Bournemouth who no one remembers.

25 goals in 62 games isn't that bad. he was decent last season and I honestly think he would have been this season had he not got that injury playing for England

He's been back from that injury about 9 months - it's scrapping the barrell badly as an excuse.

Defoe's lost it simply because his pace has gone (because of his age) and he's not got the brain or physical attributes to compensate for it.

Some of those signings have been terrible but pre-Harry, we had some terrible forwards too e.g Doherty, Rebrov, Paul Stewert (who became a midfielder) etc. Plus other managers have made bad signings as well, Looking at Dzeko for 45m is awful

Jeez, I notice he signed that guy, Lua, twice.

Does he never learn from his mistakes?

At West Ham and Bournemouth what superstar CF's should he have bought in exactly? It all depends on the situation of the clubs at that time, whether it is financial restraints or struggling in the league. Your also forgetting to mention Yakubu who was a big success at Pompey.

If you think Defoe has been a failure for Spurs overall or Pompey and West Ham, then you know fuck all about football.

And Defoe's been back from his injury for 9 months has he? That would make it August 2010, which is the start of the sodding season. Stop being an arse and making things up to suit your pathetic agenda.

I hope Poyet joins Arsenal so you can spout your crap on their boards.

Dan always exaggerates the truth in making a point but 9 months is pushing it. 5 months is how long defoe's been back since his injury with England.

You also have to take into account the money that he probably had available to him before joining Tottenham, it wasn't like he had millions to spend on just the one player. And some of those strikers on that list were very good at one point and probably had a half decent scoring record before he bought them, they obviously didn't hit it off under Harry.

Benjani scored goals for Portsmouth and was then sold to City for a profit, allowing funds for Defoe.

How is that a failure?

I very much doubt that, in years to come Wright, Suker, A Cole, Defoe and Keane will be looked upon as failures.
