Yes, it's me again, living up to my username, with another thread about an email I've received from the club.

In brief: the Chant Police will be out in force again tomorrow night at WHL, looking to record, evict and ban anyone singing what the club call "The Arsene Wenger chant".

From what I heard on TV, last week's campaign was a success so well done everyone who resisted their choral urges. On the plus side, apparently we're still free to sing "Jermain Defoe - he's a Yiddo!" so best to wrap your tonsils around that one.

COYS!

After his jolly old game of soccer, of course.

What about:

With a packet of sweets and his Portuguese tan, Wenger's got Madeleine McCann?

That's not a kickable offence surely.

I don't think missing this chant is going to spoil the atmosphere much tbh. The club saw that this approach worked in respect of Adebayor, so it makes sense that they try it again to prevent any other chants or songs which they consider undesirable (which it is, IMO). Having said that, I don't think the degree of offence that the Wenger chant might cause (to anyone other than him) is in the same league as the Adebayor one, so a ban seems a bit heavy handed on this occasion.

Anyway, I'm sure the good fellows in the Park Lane will think of a suitable alternative for us...

Think it's much more useful to sing songs & chant about OUR club, OUR team & OUR players! Really couldn't give s flying **** about the scum and their manager so see no point in singing about em!!

"stand up if you hate Arsenal"???? Screw that, it's a given being a Spurs fan that I despise that scummy pikey lot from down south!!

"Stand up if you love Tottenham"!!

Fair enough, they want to stamp out racism and homophobia in the game, but i fail to see what FA lunacy this is addressing? This is now twice in as many weeks that the club have warned its own fans about singing a song that is no more offensive or harmful than 99% of chants, songs, noises and gestures made by... well, fans of practically every other club in the world.

I always thought it was because they were young and dumb that the Woolwich fans claim we want to be like them, that we're trying our best to copy them - apparently it's not even on the pitch, it's in the stands. At this rate, we'll be as dull, lifeless and quiet as the library inside a couple of seasons. What with the threats of banishment, ranks of robocops and banning of specific songs, The Lane is rapidly turning into a bit of a mini police state.

There's only one Arsene Wenger,
Only one Arsene Wenger,
But we're not allowed to voice concern, fellow Yids
Even if he comes and steals your kids.

There's only one paedophile
only one paedophile
We're not saying he's one (though he does like bum-fun)
Wenger should be on Jeremy Kyle.

100% agree with that. Wish we would stop the stand up if you hate arsenal chant.

So? , why sink to their level?

Are Spurs fans really so unimaginative that they can't think of anything to sing other than calling Wenger a peadophile?

I think you're missing the point i'm making here - why are we the focus of this extra attention, when clubs across the land let their supporters sing and chant pretty much whatever they like without concern? Chelsea haven't issued warnings to their fans about their conduct, and i doubt we'll see camera equipped stewards evicting their fans from the Bridge. The same with West Ham, Rangers & Celtic, no reprimands for the Villa fans who sling it at Brum supporters.

I don't personally sing these songs, i prefer the classics, and to wonder if Spurs fans are so unimaginative that we can't think of anything else to sing is just spasticated. We sing long, loud and varied songs, which makes it even more curious that the club have become so militant about particular ditties, especially this one.

Do we assume that any chant or song that could cause offence to any other player or member of the opposing squad should be outlawed? Are we, in essence, discovering that banter can no longer be part of todays game? If that's the case, is it the fault of the fan for becoming too abusive, or the "victim" for being too much of a pussy? Add on top of it, that Wenger chant has done the rounds for years, without once even drawing a glance from a steward, yet now it's suddenly something to be stomped on?

Naaah, something fishy's going on here.

What about human rights and freedom of speech, are my rights to shout abuse at him being abused. Maybe we should get a lawyer to look into it? Any lawyers out there want to take it on.
