Being bought out by a Dubai based investment group.

Come on Mr Singapore Billionaire, buy Spurs or we could be bypassing Charlton on their way up and our way down.

Excellent buy for all the reasons we're not.
The price will not be high by Premiership standards meaning all the millions of pound difference between their price and Spurs price can be spent on players if they want, that said it won't cost a fortune to buy the players to get them into the premiership and the ground can be extended relatively easily. Expectations won't be as high yet when they are in the prem the money will start rolling in.
As a business proposition it makes more sense to buy a Championship side with realistic chances of promotion to the prem and Charlton has to have more than most.

I think alot of London based Championship teams could start getting buyout offers. They probably think with the investement they can offer getting into the PL is not a problem, then they can start from their without having to pay £400m to start with.

This is bad news.

Why?

Yes, Charlton can expect a shedload of money.

In practice, what will this enable them to do? Will it enable them to buy world-class players? Will it fuck. City's billions won't, either, at least until they've shown they can cement themselves a place in the top four. What chance do Charlton have?

There is a finite number of world-class players out there. Even if he were offered totally insane money, do you imagine Kaka, for example, would swap Milan for the Valley?

Of course you don't.

This is good news for a small Club like Charlton. But they wont by any means be a great Club at the end of it. It will offer them stability. But they are a very small Club. They wont fill a 50'000 seat Stadium and they wont attract big name players. They just dont have the fanbase or are they a well known Club with a glorious history, for them to become a great Club. They will be on a par with QPR. It will enable them to reach the Premier League again, but to have the finances to strengthen the squad to enable them to stay in the Premier League long term. I think they'll be in a similar situation that Sunderland are in at the moment. An outside chance of a top 6 finish, but most likely a mid-table Premier League team.

Of all the potential clubs for an Arab gazillionaire to buy, which Charlton, arguabley the Steptoe & Son of London football? I mean, first us right? Then even Spam before the likes of Charlton. It doesn't make sense.
