Nothing wrong with this, the mind is ones worst enemy at times, hope he comes out the other side a transformed person and player.

Good on him. He's clearly extremely frustrated at the moment and needs to relieve some of the pressure he's putting on himself.

Well done, great move. Whether someone recommended him to do it or he decided by himself, its a sign that he recognises there is an internal issue and that he want to fix it. 👏👏👏

He will come good. Works very hard for the team. Just need a little bit of luck in front of goal to boost his confidence. Come on Ricky.

If anyone has cared to read his quotes, a lot of his frustrations have been off the field and he says that there were people close to him only there for his money. Something he alluded to immediately after last season ended by the way.

It seems like he's been trying to use football to get the off the field issues out of his mind and I'm sure each miss or VAR-reversed goal just inflames the situation. Good on him for seeking professional help.

Whatever he's going through he needs our support. Despite any doubts some may have about him being a good fit, let's just make sure he gets the support he needs for this "run of games' he's asked for. ... and we'll see what happens.

The one trap that players (especially strikers) fall into is feeling that their whole worth is defined by how many goals they score.
A bit like a car salesman's mood wholly contingent on whether they sell a car or not that week.
It's seeking validation through some external event.

The key to solid stable psychology and well being is to build a belief system that is self-generated.
I think somebody like Ben Stokes embodies this really well. He used to suffer with depression at times, he used to base so many of his feelings on what others thought and the opinions of the press/media etc.
But he's come to realise that none of that matters if you can find the peace within. When you're not reliant on the validation of others.
When people find that kind of peace....it really liberates them. They play with a new found freedom and don't worry about the headlines of tomorrow, but about the enjoyment in the moment, without feeling trepidation about being judged on the outcome.

Funnily enough if Richy just stopped caring so much, stopped measuring himself by whether he scores a goal or not, he would enjoy himself so much more. Start smiling again. And then everything then just clicks...and he starts scoring for fun.

We build pressure in our minds...and then it materialises in our physiology. Creating unease, and if chronic, then eventually dis-ease.
No one can perform consistently when feeling under pressure (look at Spurs last season and Conte's methods).
But freeing people up...albeit with a committed focus...creates peak performances.

I'm really glad Richy has decided to seek some support.
Just the very act of having someone hold space for you, whilst you off-load all that pressure that has built up...is a big game-changer.
The knowledge that you're not alone. That you are supported.
And you also get to explore and hear other perspectives around the situation you're in. Thereby freeing you up.
Go Richy. And anyone else out there currently struggling with weighty issues filling their minds.

Mad respect for Richy for coming out and speaking on his mental health. Was hoping that Dele interview sparked something within the game, because it is still seen as a bad thing or a weakness. Fans certainly tend to overlook the human behind the boots and the shirt.

Would love to see him score on Saturday.
