Der Bomber

One of the finest strikers of any era has died aged 75.

Mexico '70 was the first World Cup I can remember, & amongst a host of legends, Gerd Müller was my first non - Spurs football hero.

Respect, too, to Bayern - they really do know how to look after their great players post-retirement.

He was pretty increible. he had that really low centre of gravity and could turn on a sixpence. I watched a documentary about him quite recently he had his demons, mainly with alcohol. Sad how many geniuses are flawed. I see he fell prey to the awful Alzheimers.

RIP

Gerd broke my heart as a 9 year kid in 1970 World Cup against England. He was one of the most clinical goalscorers I have even seen. Watched that great Bayern team so many times where Gerd was the ace finisher supreme. Rest in Peace Der Bomber. You were pure class.

Too young to have seen him play, but his numbers, wow! Goals per game even putting Kane in the shade and up there with best ever! RIP

He was an awesome striker. Probably an in PC nickname these days but it perfectly described his playing style.
