Can be inconsistent but definitely one of the most talented players in the league. We should get this done as long as the finances make sense! Would be an exciting signing for sure.

When arsenal give up on Monaco they'll get Mahrez.

And can't say I really care, think there's a ton of question marks about whether he can actually be consistent and not just a flake . Seems like the perfect player for them to go along with walnut, Ramsey, ozil

Leicester were a mess last year, last season and the season before that, Mahrez was a very good player. If people think Poch can get the best out of Barkley, then why not this guy?

He's exactly the kind of player we need.

Just can't picture him in a Spurs shirt.

Would be an awesome signing. But just can't see it.

Weird isn't it. Certain players you can't imagine wearing a club shirt, but they do. I can only picture Mahrez in an Arsenal shirt. Then again, never thought I'd see Gallas in a Spurs shirt, but there you go.

If there is a last minute panic signing from us then I think it will be this guy. He wants out, Leicester don't seem that bothered if he stays or not etc.

Expensive though obviously.

When I typed this earlier I wasn't expecting the hertyid itk afterwards!

He's been on our radar since the summer before Leicester won the league so I can see us still interested in him. But like I said, last minute Sissoko type panic buy only I suspect if the manager throws his toys out the pram.

I'd have a fit Lamela ahead of Mahrez any day. Lamela was so good the season before last.
I love Lamela and can't wait to have him back but the same season you're talking about Mahrez was player of the year and scored + assisted more that year than Lamela has in all his seasons at Spurs combined. The two of them would be wonderful options but only Spurs fans would rather Lamela over Mahrez

I don't see Mahrez running himself into the ground the way Lamela did. I don't see him offering any protection to the full back either. If he had any of those responsibilities at Leicester he wouldn't have been player of the season IMO. Lamela was instrumental in our forward press whereas Mahrez, from what I remember, hung about in threatening positions for most of the time. I think plenty of other fans would see the limitations of what Mahrez offers compared to Lamela when he's on form.

I've already had this arguament with someone else earlier in this thread but Mahrez made more blocks, clearances and interceptions per 90 in 2015/16 than Lamela in the same season. Lamela averages an additional 1 tackle per game as well.

I don't know where Mahrez has got this reputation from because it is certainly not how Leicester fans saw him in their title winning season. He is very much a Poch player and puts it a shift and could do it.

As I say, I love Lamela and think he's a great player and, whilst I'd concede Lamela is better at a high press and all that stuff, we didn't miss that this season and having another player who has scored 20 prem goals would be massive for our club.

I like Lamela but he's nowhere near the attacking threat that Mahrez provides.

I also don't see it as an either-or situation.

Alli, Eriksen, Mahrez, Barkley.
Kane Son Janssen

Those would be a strong set of options.

Even in Leicester's winning season there was a lack of work ethic from him defensively. He won't press or play on the front foot. I'd rather spend 40m on Zaha (I know we wouldn't be able to now)

Last season, agreed, season before incorrect. There is now way they could carry a winger playing 4-4-2.

I honestly don't know where people have got this from, I've provided the stats above and am sure if someone can find distance covered, he'd be up there in 2015-16

Hmmmmm. Thought it was bollocks but now we've got ITK, and stuff from the English and French media (I believe Djellit is considered to be one of the most reliable French journalists). Obviously an enquiry is nothing but still...

Tottenham have made an enquiry for Riyad Mahrez. (FF)

Mercato: Tottenham, an interest for Riyad Mahrez (Leicester)

Courted by Roma, Riyad Mahrez (26) is attracting the growing interest of Tottenham. And this, while Roma recently passed on an offer of 30 million euros.

As revealed by the English press, Tottenham came to the news several times regarding the situation of Riyad Mahrez . More often announced on the side of Arsenal, the Algerian international likes Mauricio Pochettino, the Spurs coach. Meanwhile, Roma is the club that has advanced the most on the record of the former Havrais. As a reminder, Leicester recently refused an offer of 30 million euros for its offensive medium.

Mahrez was an unknown quantity in his first season and did well but i think he got a bit found out by defenders in his second season with his tendency to cut in mostly on his left foot. I am not sure his work ethic either would fit into a Poch run team. Don't want to spend big on him, think it will be a mistake.

I see the tied is changing in here and more people are in favour of signing him just because we haven't signed anyone yet lol
