We've been linked with so many keepers, I thought this was the one position that would've been done/dusted by now - unless Kameni/Gomez/Hart/Coupet appears at the Lane in the next few days.

So I wonder if there might've been a management rethink about dumping Robbo ? Or maybe they always meant to stick with him and there was nothing to rethink in the first place - after all there hasn't been a desperate rush to offload him. Maybe just sacking Segers was the key issue here ?

And what's Alnick's situation ? Is he now the official no2 ? Or even in the frame for no1 ?

as we all know confidence is a fragile thing... i think that with a new season some new signings Robbo can feel like hes going to have a new start... i want him to stay the number 1. a keeper with something to prove can be a good thing. they should let him have a good pre-season and go from there

I think its more a case of no one wanting him, so he is still there.

No doubt he can regain his confidence, Like David James, but like James, he needs to move to another club to do that.

While he is still at Spurs his errors will big high profile, the fans, the players, the management, the pundits wont have confidence in him and therefore it will be impossible for him to regain his.

Everyimte he goes for a cross, everytime someone shots from distance, everytime there is a free kick around the box people will be worried then when he messes up that collective groan will be heard.

Get a new keeper and he will be given some settling in time. People will laud his saves, and his mistakes (as long as its a small number) will be forgiven, especailly if it doesnt cost us real points

We are one of the only clubs in the premiership to have done any sort of transfer business thus far. I suspect after Euro 08 the market will really kick off and we will defo be bringing in a new set of GK's. Nobody will leave till we have brought most of our targets in i suspect

Personally flatback4, all i think we need is a decent number 2 who can really challenge Robbo for the shirt.

Let Robbo work with our new gk coach and see how it goes from there, you dont turn crap over night and people need to realise that there's no gurantee bringing in a new goalkeeper (be it Hart, Gomes or Coupet etc) that they are going to be the same standard or better than Robbo.

It's the classic, "he's under performed...buy a new one" saga

I dont think it is. I think its simply that he doesn't tick all of the necessary boxes you need to be a champs league keeper.

Shot stopper - tick
Bravery - tick
Distribution - tick
Commanding Box - MASSIVE HOLE WHERE TICK SHOULD BE!!!!!!!!

Having a keeper that is able to take th epressure off your defence at key times such as corners, crosses, free kicks and claim the ball is just important as scoring goals. Robbo couldn't catch a cold im afraid and Ramos has seen that. He'll go chaps, thanks for your loyalty and all that, but sadly we have outgrown you.

IMO we should keep hold of Robbo but invest in another keeper who will give him the competion for the No 1 shirt. Alnwick is a long way short of that and I feel will never develop in to a top class keeper.

Hart for me would be a good choice but I think would probably look for more of a no 1 position as he is just breaking in to the full international squad.

I would prefer a non-english goalie. That way the media won't highlight every little mistake that they make like they do with the English ones.
