Belgium boss Roberto Martinez is not a current candidate for the vacant Tottenham Hotspur managerial position. The Spaniard, who has managed Wigan and Everton in the Premier League was said to be on the club’s shortlist to replace Jose Mourinho. However, it is understood there are no plans for talks between the two parties and he is not currently considered a candidate.

Did the Independent start the Martinez rumour as well as dismissing it? Great way to generate two stories about something when you have no clue what's going on.

Well, as was mentioned in another thread.... it depends on what the other options were as to whether this is good or not!

I would be extremely disappointed if anyone on our shortlist isn't a better option than Martinez.

Irrespective of the context of other options, I would consider Martinez a poor appointment that is more likely to land us in mid-table than top 4, so him not being on our shortlist is definitely a good thing.

I do agree, my comment was tongue in cheek and laced with a touch of cynicism, however.

I'd expect Levy to be making huge efforts to get the club sorted, coach wise. As at the moment it's a bit of a shambles. He needs to placate fans, Martinez wasn't it.

So we can breathe again...

Until Belgium are out of the Euro's and we still don't have a manager. :cautious:
