Harry Redknapp is in advanced talks over a sensational return to Tottenham Hotspur in a Director of Football role, Sky Sports understands.
Spurs have been in crisis over the last two weeks, with manager Antonio Conte leaving by mutual consent after an outburst in a post-match press conference, and Managing Director Fabio Paratici being suspended from worldwide football activities by FIFA. With the pressure building, chairman Daniel Levy has moved quickly to open discussions with Redknapp, who managed the club between 2008 and 2012.
Aged 76 years old and having not held a managerial position since his five-month stint in charge of Birmingham City in 2017, Redknapp had openly declared his interest in returning to the club in an interview with talkSPORT Breakfast in March. It is understood that Levy prefers a younger manager to be the first team coach, but is keen on securing Redknapp's experience and contacts within the game to replace Paratici in running the operational side of the club and leading the search for Conte's replacement.
