Newcastle have agreed a deal to sign Tottenham left-back Danny Rose on loan until the end of the season.

Speaking last week, Newcastle manager Steve Bruce said: "He's a quality player and a class act, the kid. Whether it's possible, who knows?"

Great player several years ago but since ‘that interview’ I get the impression he has been a toxic influence at the club.

Really pleased he’s leaving albeit on a loan and really hope he sorts his demons out

I think this is good for both parties. Feel like Rose has been a negative influence in the dressing room since that interview and his subsequent injury.

They'll love him at St James.

Sunderland fans gave him a standing ovation when he was on loan there.

Good move for him, didn't seem very happy. Hopefully he gets his love for the game back and performances reflect this.

He performs well, we might even get a rejuvenated LB returning and knuckling down. Or, does well and adds a few quid to his selling fee.

Either way, I wish him well.

I think if he goes then that'll be it. He's fallen out of love with the game, and needs the change. Newcastle is still a long way from South Yorkshire, but it'll be a refreshing change of scenery up there.

The Sunderland thing won't be an issue after all this time, and they'll just appreciate a lad who gives it the bollocks every game. Which Danny does.

But I think that's it for him in a Spurs shirt.

I think you are most probably right. Doubt he'll feature for us again. Was a fine LB for Spurs when he was bang on game. Tenacious.

It was only a couple of seasons ago that we had the two best fullbacks in the country in Rose and Walker. First Walker left then what was considered a great replacement in Trippier then he left. Walker Peters was considered a great replacement for him and he's gone out on loan on top of that Davis is injured. I'm perplexed trying to figure out what the club is thinking. It's not as if our defence has been our strong point this season. All these sales and loans of our fullbacks could be our downfall in this last part of the season.

Rose should be remembered as one of the clubs great left backs and for a few seasons was one of the best in the league.

we’ve had the best of him and wish him all the best in his future.

The guy battles depression. Let’s be a little sensitive in this thread.

I second your sentiments depression may affect his performances but I'd like to think he has some control of what comes out of his mouth and then choose to publish.

thankfully i've never suffered from it myself, but secondhand - from being around people who have - i wouldn't be so sure that there always is such control. Such a misunderstood disease. (not criticising you, just throwing my hands up and saying who knows - but i choose to give him the benefit of the doubt)
