Yeah and Everton have quoted £50m, Barkley is the key in all this as long as he doesn't sign a new contract then the power lay with us.
Bit arrogant to assume that we're the only ones interested in Barkley. If his prices drops, then be prepared for others to come into the frame, with the potential to offer better wages.

Sandro Ramirez who they picked up for a great price. Lukaku replaced with Ramirez and Rooney?

Yeah I realise..... so I deleted my post.

BTW, just reading from toffeetalk, some ITK mention about Barkley given locker..... but no socks. lol

"yes on locker, but not given socks, take that as you will"

That's pretty funny itk but probably right as nobody would really make that up would they. Love it.

ESPN:
08.59 BST: Sticking with Tottenham, a different source has told ESPN FC that while the North London club do admire Everton midfielder Ross Barkley, his £140,000-a-week wage demands have put them off pursuing a deal for now.

If true, that is even more of a hurdle than his fee!

That said I'm just not buying it. Would have walked away already if this was legit...

Agree. Although probably not allowed I reckon all the financials will have been kind of agreed with his agent. Nice signing on fee paid over the course of his contract? Depending of course on Spurs getting him for a price they are happy with.

Sounds bullshit. No one is going to pay 140K a week to Barkley and he knows that.

Shit..He'll do well to get half that from us.

It's bullshit, if he was asking that we wouldn't have been interested for so long. He may have turned down similar from Everton, but that's different to what he'll want to move here.

Fair point but if a club isn't willing to pay the higher fee they are probably not willing to pay high wages, if the clubs that can outbid us on wages are interested in him they'd be in the mix already surely at the higher fee and I may be wrong but I've not heard of any.
I suppose West Ham might be daft enough to come in at the lower fee and offer higher wages but I don't think it is arrogant to assume he'd see us as the better option there.

If Barkley is to move, then i would expect he is looking at clubs that will give a better chance than Everton of winning things. That leaves 6 possible destinations. Us, Liverpool ( No chance) , Man Utd ( wouldn't surprise me), Man City ( Would be in the picture now if interested), Chelsea ( Again a possibility) and Arsenal ( Unlikely unless The Ox departs). Potentially there could be 3-4 suitors for Barkley.
I doubt whether West Ham is on his agenda, but they may offer silly money to get a deal across the line.

So this is almost certainly an absolute load of shite given the nature of it, but a friend at work claims that his girlfriend's friend (stick with me) works with Barkley's girlfriend. Apparently she quit that job shortly before going on holiday to Barbados with Barkley because they were going to be moving, but has now asked for the job back as Ross is signing a new contract with Everton.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least if he signed a new contract.
