We keep hearing every club in Europe is broke and can not buy any of our players, PL clubs are the only ones with Money,. But still looks like we are looking for loans with options.

are we broke as well or are we just so damn afraid to commit and need to try every player coming from Italy first?
There probably is a fair degree of being afraid to commit. If we didn't have a handful of players sat around collecting dust already (Ndombele etc.) maybe we would be a braver, but there is a very real risk of hanging ourselves with our own rope if that pile gets too big. Even with all the scouting and "due diligence" in the world there's always that risk of a player not working out.

The Italy connection is an interesting one. Clearly Paratici and Conte are going to have more knowledge of that player pool, but it is notoriously difficult to get Italians playing outside of Italy, and in general some of the Italian clubs seem like utter twats to deal with. So a positive from this window (in my opinion) was those early buys coming mainly from England.

I'm hopeful that Lenglet is enough of a talent that we don't need to go back for Bastoni at all. It would appear that Barca are more keen to sell than Inter have been. As for Zaniolo that seems like another endless flirt in the making.

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini has hit out at his board after victory over Torino.

Gasperini admits his squad is too big for him to manage with the summer market now closed.

He lamented: "The club did not give me a gift to leave me so many players: here a mess breaks out every time one does not play.

"Opponents to cause discord is one thing, done locally is a difficult thing to accept. The squad is not what I wanted, I will have to adapt, I will choose by seeing which players are the strongest.

"It is an excessive squad, but there was a possibility for the club to sell. Then those who made the market will speak and tell you that there was no possibility ".

"Several players were waiting by the phone on the last day of the window. But nothing happened because of the board."

Gasparini wasn't very nice to him early in the season and his form worsened, adds much more goal threat than Lucas and Gil but we should get someone who can compete with Deki, not a clear backup IMO. Plays a lot on left wing too, maybe we bring more than one if Son's injury is bad.

Hope the rumours aren’t true, not much of an upgrade imo. Having a troubled season. Decent player but considering we are supposedly looking for quality I’d much rather go for someone else. I also think he might really struggle in the pl. I’d actually prefer we give Gil a proper chance tbh.

From what I’ve seen of him he’s incredibly lazy. He doesn’t move, he doesn’t press and he doesn’t do the defensive work. Would be adding to our problems

Yeah not convinced he's the right fit for us tbh. But I said the same about Kulusevski.

Then would Conte even want him?
I doubt it. Maybe it’s just because I’ve been watching him since he’s been trying to leave so it could affect his performances like Eriksen. I know we keep getting linked with him but I would have assumed if we really wanted him we’d have signed him in the summer

Got a hell of a shot on him, that alone would make a deal worthwhile as it gives us something else for teams to worry about. Don’t know if he’d be a starter, but certainly a very good bench option.

He may not have been on fire for Atalanta lately, perhaps becoming disheartened by the number of quality teammates that have been sold, but he’s certainly still got quality in him. Seen him for Ukraine a good few times and he’s got a lot of attributes that could serve us well. He’s an excellent dribbler and strong as an ox, somewhat like Dembele, though nobody is as elegant as Mousa! He’s a goal threat from distance and a good set-piece taker. He’s also versatile in that he can play pretty much anywhere in midfield or the forward line.

If we can move Lucas in Jan this would from a tactical standpoint make a lot of sense, We would be alot more suitable to play a 3-5-2 with Ruslan With
both him there would be no problem to mix with Bentancur, Hojbjerg or even Kulu in a 3-5-2 Witch i think Conte want to utilise a lot more

This is a good point because currently Lucas is our 4th choice in a 352 and even lower down in a 343.

No doubt a good player but it feels a bit like settling which we've been told Conte doesn't want to do.

Not that I don't like both, but if it's going to show ambition with only one choice, has to be Maddison above anyone else.
