Why? is the appropriate word on this imo, although judging by all the garbage written in the papers about our transfers this Jan, we should ignore it like all the rest

So, we ship out an ageing striker and replace him with.. another ageing striker!

Any potential new strikers should be 23-24 at the oldest. Ade & even Soldado are not getting any younger.

didn't an ITK (gards I think) say the other day that we were looking at a forward who would not be popular? Could this be who he meant?

Few other news sources starting to say it too.

Doesn't make much sense in all honesty. He might well only cost 3m but he'll be on a fair wage too and looking for a large contract. It would be quite a big deal.

Money should be spend on a young, up and coming forward with huge potential. Somebody like Matshuayi etc.

He's awful. Why would we want to sign yet another player who doesn't have a position?

Also I've always thought of him as a bit of a bottler.

I can see this happening. He'd be cheap and he's proven (to a certain extent) in the Premiership. His goals per minutes played is decent, but goals per game is let down due to his high number of sub appearances. He ticks a lot of boxes, but hardly inspired. In fact, not an exciting signing at all. Even though he's still in his 20s I would much rather have Defoe.

Imagine selling Capoue and buying Kalou...sort of rhymes in a really depressing sort of way.

He's been playing up front for Lille, so I guess that' would be the plan.
Plus as a perpetual bench warmer, he'd not mind doing that.

It's got Levy written all over it. £3m, a decorated player that will retain value until inevitably being sold to th middle east or America after a couple of years on the bench.

He has got goals in him though. It's just trading Defoe for a younger variant IMO and like @andyp8080 points out it tallies with the Gards info from the other day.

He's not so bad but yeah, would prefer faith in Lamela or Chadli.

Is this really the best we can do?

Hopefully it's bullshit but if true it will say everything about our ambitions. Hardly making a statement, is it?
