someone said in the team thread that BAE is back training.
Could do with Dembele and Parker back as well.

Kaboul not as important. Good player, but if BAE then Vertonghen and Caulker with Gallas and Dawson should be good enough for now. Would have Kaboul starting with Vertonghen at the moment though

Disagree about Kaboul, i think he is at least as good as Gallas and fitter than him and certainly better than Dawson.

You disagree about what?

I have said if he was fit i would start him. So i do rate him over Gallas and Dawson.
Just with the players we have to cover the injurys, and if BAE is back soon having Kaboul back isnt as important as having Sandro, Dembele and Parker back.

With Kaboul out we have Vert, Caulker, Gallas and Dawson
With Sandro, Dembele and Parker out we have Hudd, Livermore (if he is fit) Sigy and Carroll

We need the CM's back more than we need another CB

I disagree that Kaboul being back from injury 'is not as important' (your words), IMO he would be an improvement on Gallas right now.

Yes he would be in improvement over Gallas

I still think having Sandro and Dembele in CM with Vert and Caulker at CB would be better than having Kaboul and Vert at CB with Hudd and Livermore in CM.

I think having Kaboul back is possibly the most important after Dembele. As soon as we get out CB pairing (and Lloris) together we might stop conceding stupid goals at stupid times.

This was posted by POTL this morning

Sandro- Scans are due back today, been struggling with this calf problem for a while now. Fingers crossed its not too bad, will wait for results.

Dembele- Still struggling with this hip problem. Difficulty with this injury is rest is the best medicine, which is preventing him from taking part in all training sessions. Medical team are trying strengthen the hip- will be a race against time for Arsenal.

Scotty- back running and due to join in full training in the near future. All being well will be back in 3-4 weeks.

Benny- Back in the UK now, working with the medical team. Could be back in the next few weeks.

Kaboul- Still a while off for the big man, won't be back til the NY.

So going on POTL's post every injury seems to be taking quite a lot longer than originally predicted. Do we ever get players back sooner than expected? No Dembele for City, well we can chalk off any chance of a point there now, especially with Sandro a big doubt.

I fully agree with this. Our midfield is massively waeker when Sandro and Dembele are missing.

Where as our defence has more depth of quality can cope without Kaboul and/or Verts/Gallas.

This is really bad news.

We have zero chance of winning the match with blobbystone and ploddermore in CM.

How depressing that injury update is - and we've been told for weeks Benny is close to returning, he was suppose to be back after the last International break and I thought Parker was due to start training in the next week or two.

Dembele and Sandro are the biggest worries though, why the Club can't confirm that surgery wasn't required for Dembele I don't know - and if Sandro is out on Sunday it could be totally humiliating.

To lose those two players in a hectic month is so cruel on us. I'm not even thinking of the City/Arsenal games now anyway - I've written them off in my own mind and anything we get is a complete bonus given the state of our squad.

I'm now thinking of playing Lazio away, followed by the Pikey's and Dipper's at home in 6 days. There is no way our squad is in a position to cope with that work load - and we'll be dropping more points I'm afraid - unless we get the likes of Dembele (fit) and Sandro back in time.

Justinsignal without Parker, Sandro and Dembele our middle of the park is pointless. We know that Livermore and Huddlestone are not good enough and Siggy has shown us nothing to say he is good enough. Then Dempsey cannot play where we are playing him.

The truth is we need to spend in January and spend big if we don't AVB will be gone without having being backed by bringing in players he wanted. Just think we could have spent the 15 million we spent on dempsey and siggy on a decent midfielder or a good striker. Levy has to stop player football manager with our club and let someone more qualified to decide our buying targets.

Spurs confused transfer policy has left us in this situation and if it is not sorted out in January, I can see us struggling to make the Europa League.

I'm trying hard to see any reason to put out Hudd, Livermore, Siggy, or Demsey against Al-City. Doesn't seem to be any point, except that you're supposed to play someone that looks like a midfielder, even if he's not actually doing the job might hope a midfielder does...therefore I think AVB should show his tactical boldness with the unprecedented 5-0-5 lineup. We're going to lose the midfield badly anyhow, why not just hand it to them without having to go through the pain of watching them leisurely skipping around the immobile form of the Hudd?

Lloris
Walker-Gallas-Caulker-Verts-Naughton
(big space)
Lennon Defoe Ade Bale Falque

the ultimate counter-attacking formation ! Of course we'd lose badly, but we probably will anyhow...

Until Sandro and Parker are back, we have to play Vertonghen in the CM holding role. I would also play Bale in the Dembele role. Against City and Arsenal, I would include Livermore in midfield (assuming that he's fit and Sando isn't). So the midfield would be:

Sandro/Livermore Vertonghen
Bale
If we plan to start with Huddlestone in midfield against City or Arsenal, we may as well concede the points now. He is simply not good enough for the Premiership. You cannot afford to carry players in central midfield.
