While getting less and less convinced in accepting deal renewal offer from FC Basel, Swiss international centre-back Fabian Schär (22), who might leave as a free agent next summer, is becoming more and more of a main item of interest for Inter management, according to Sportitalia. Tracked hard by Tottenham as well, former Wil 1900 player had been near to join Borussia Monchengladbach, just after having been drawn towards Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, FC Seville, Juventus and AS Roma. Schär's ownership is esteemed around 10 million euros.

So he's behind Djourou and Senderos?

Does that not say all we need to know?!

He's only 22. He's got some good qualities that I think would be ideal in the premiership. He's got a good physique, not slow, he's combative, a good reader for his age and also quite comfortable on the ball.

I haven't seen much of him, but when I have I seem to recall him scoring a few goals, so he looks a decent threat at corners and free kicks. Is that right or just me catching a few games with him nodding in the odd goal?

I don't think we have ever gotten the returns -particularly from corners- that we should have in recent years from our dead ball opportunities so any strong aerial threat must boost our scoring potential

I haven't seen loads either, about half a dozen games mostly in Europe. But I liked what I saw.

Flimsy connection, some vague recollection of him possibly playing well and maybe scoring, and a focus on scoring from corners instead of his defending ability. Personally I'm not convinced.

I personally think he would be better suited to the EPL than Vlad. I'd also like to see Vlad play at DM, but that's a different thread. We may be seeing the last of Kaboul (who knows) in which case I think Fazio, Vertonghen, Dier and Schar would be pretty good, but above all of this I suspect we will have a go at Hector Moreno when he's fit. I'm sure he was in our sights long before Musacchio or anybody else.

I can't see us buying any more CB's now, unless we were to lose another one soon.

Logic would say you're right, but we've now had multiple snippets of info from different ITKers suggesting we've maintained contact with Hector Moreno, and may yet look to bring him in in January, especially while considering Kaboul's fitness.

Based on what we've seen of yet, I hope Poch makes Moreno feel like his chum through December.

Medical opinion suggested 6 months for the recovery. Sounds like Moreno wouldn't have played any significant amount to judge how well he had recovered by January, so I doubt he'd be an option till next summer.

I think we'll need to strengthen by upgrading on Vlad or Eunice in Jan if possible, but January looks premature for Moreno to replace either.

Assuming he wants to try and add Schneiderlin and Rodriguez in January they would fill our HG quota, but we'd have to sell a non HG player if we wanted say Schar or maybe have another attempt at Musacchio or Moreno if he proves that much ahead of medical opinion
