I truely believe we are not a selling club. What else can our chairman do other than what he has already done with regards to Modric and Bale. Are utd, liverpool, Arsenal and city also going to be tarnished with the selling club tag? United sold possibly the best player in the world in Ronaldo. Liverpool sold their best player in torres. City are expecting to lose their best player in Tevez, and Arsenal look like they are losing their best two players in Fabregas and Nasri. Its doing my head in when i hear people saying things like how can we attract world class players when you sell your best players. Well im sorry i believe you can, and looking at the teams above it hasnt stopped them improving. If Modric kicks up enough stink and we feel we have to sell him its not because we are a selling club its because we have had no other option open to us. Players like Modric will come and go, but we will still be here supporting our team through thick and thin. Rant over.

We are a selling club. We are also a buying club. Every club is. Who gives a fuck?

You forgot Rooney. (not sold but the same old story)

If we sell Modric and Bale, it will be on our terms and the price will be right. As long as we get in decent replacements (still waiting for Berbas) then we will continue on. But it can be difficult.

All clubs are 'selling clubs' to those teams above them and a 'buying club' to those below them which means we are in a better position than most.

Had we improved on the previous season we could have come 2nd and then I doubt anyone would have wanted to leave.

As it was we came 5th and have to accept the possibility of losing our best players to the top 4 clubs.

If we want be among the big clubs we have to keep the player against their wishes, otherwise we are saying that players are bigger than the club and they move on when they wish

Fergie did it to ronaldo, Wenger did it to veira, henry and cesc now we have to do the same

The point with Modric is that he sighed a long term contract one of our rivals want him and put in a silly offer compared to what profit we'd make, remember we paid big money at the time for Modric £16.6M. Modric sighting Chelsea being a bigger club.. not... richer yes. Also it's not in our immediate interest to sell to a rival were not far behind in terms of footballing quality.

We have the right to refuse Chelsea's offer and insist Modric serves the contract he signed, at least for a season to give us time to replace and adjust.

This.

At the end of the day its not about simply buying and selling players. Yes all clubs do it. But it's about building a team and challenging. Its about making yourself strong and being able to afford to lose one or two player. We are not in that position. We start to build and then better teams come in and take away our better players leaving us still where we were. The only way around that is to make a stand.

I do agree with you. But when you have a player like modric who doesn't want to play for you i think its sort of counter productive to keep him.

I think it's a case of saying the bigger picture. It's not so much about Modric personally. It's about making a statement that We are trying to so something and we aren't content to just be raped every time we sign a good player.

To me, making such a statement at this particular moment in time after we showed we can play in the CL credibly, is much more worth it than any transfer fee, even if it's £100m. We have to show we are serious and we have to show we mean business.

It makes me laugh when I read posts on here saying "let him go" when at the same time I read posts hoping that we are going to be signing all the worlds most in demand players. I mean, seriously, without CL this season how on earth will be attract any top players if we are just happy to let our current ones go?

seeing the bigger picture is one thing but actually getting to the bigger picture is something entirely different. We won't get to the golden chalice of champions league football carrying a player like Modric. The 11 on the pitch have to be totally commited to the cause for us to have any chance at all.

we will never win league , we are a selling club and we will always end up selling to united and chelsea imo for years to come the way things stand.

what we do is take calculated gamble on players who united chelsea and to less extent arsenal dont want and with some luck they get even better and we develop them for few years before they move on to something better. thats the way it is and will always be. why?

spurs management
spurs attitude. way of life
we dont have it in us as a club to want to be the vesy best. best it can be. its all about the money with spurs. we come close but always fuck up - i like levys comments that we are buildings omething but i have no faith in it been pushed thru. we will see no huge signings imo when there should be and i also believe top pkayers will be sold on.

We can sell.when we WANT to sell...and BUY when we want to buy.....as long as it benefits the Club. There are 101 ways to stop another club 'poisoning' one of OUR contracted players...IF we want to go that route (and loose a few Million) but that 'offending' player will never play again (worst senerio) for either club of country...any club, any country! Sadly, we don't have a club who are capable of enforcing such an outcome. For all his 'brave' talk...Levi is a weak leader...so, we are, ore than likely, FCUKED, Big time COYS! Start launching the life-boats boys?
