Their arms, legs etc are in exactly the same position.

Not for me.

I actually agree re the decision should’ve been kept with what the linesman says but that’s mainly because I’m totally against VAR.

The line on the pitch BT Sport showed was half of his foot offside when the ball was played, definitely not by as much as the above screenshot.
Which just shows the flaws in using a fixed view to judge offside.
This is why linesman run up and down the touchline and don't just sit in a chair in the middle.
Its a hell of a lot more than half of his foot mate.

In answer to the original question, who do I want in the semi final, I am looking realistically at whether or not HK will be ready to play, in all likelihood, based on what has been said and reported, he will either not be available for selection or he will only just about be available but he will be not be ideally match fit, in much the same way as wasn't at exactly the same point in the Semi Final against Chelsea last season.

For this reason, if it's likely that we could go into the game without him I would want to face a team who offers our interchangeable forward line the similar opportunities of space and time as Swansea did yesterday, Eriksen even admitted that giving him so much space and time played right into his and our hands. Based on the teams left in the competition who out of Man Utd, Chelsea, Leicester, Wigan or Southampton are likely to offer our team without HK the most amount of freedom comparable to the amount we were afforded yesterday ? I would say Southampton, so for that reason I would want Southampton.

Who do I think we're going to get, If I'm honest, I think Chelsea will just about get past Leicester, and although we have had some fortunate draws in the earlier rounds, I think we will get Chelsea, and Man Utd will get Wigan or Southampton.

I hope I'm wrong, but I've tried my best to answer the question based on where I suspect we will be on the HK front in 4weeks time, the great news is that if we avoid further injuries to more key players we have given ourselves a great chance from here on in.

Son must consider himself very unlucky to have such a great goal ruled offside. Perhaps he was but it was only a toenail at best. I know I am biased but should such a great goal be ruled offside by such fine margins ?

The rules have always been if it's tight margin then offside should rule in favour of the attacker so the goal should have stood.

By the way why has this thread turned I'm to a discussion about VAR? :D

Yeah exactly, wasn't suggesting I was right and you were wrong, it just goes to show how unreliable it can be.

  • any part of the head, body or feet is nearer to the opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent
That's from fa website. seems to have gone back to even if a foot, head or body is part the last defender its offside.

I care. Because getting United or Chelsea reduces our chances of winning the thing. Wigan semi, Leicester final please.

Nah...not for me. Can see the headlines now...yes, but Spurs didn't really have to beat all that much to lift the trophy.

If we avoid Chelsea and United, that's the draw. If we face both...Bring it.

Getting the thread back on track, I hope we avoid VAR Utd and The Offside Law FC in the draw for the semis. It will be that much more glorious to beat a glamorous team like VAR in the final.
