Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Tim Sherwood says that young midfielder Nabil Bentaleb needs to be playing regularly in order to continue his development.

"But in his development at Spurs, he has always been a box-to-box midfielder and he has always scored goals in the junior age groups.
He still needs to develop and is not the finished article yet, but in the future he could be that sort of goalscoring midfielder".

Sherwood is almost spot on with his summing up. I have seen Bentaleb play many times in the lower age groups and he was always up and down the pitch chasing the ball down and using it well when he had possession. Certainly one of the better central midfielders to come out of the pack at Spurs.

Well sign him on loan then if anyone ever takes you on as manager. If not, stop trying to tell the new manager how to do his job..

It's a shame Sherwood made the decision to play him in a holding role as it sounds like we would have seen more from him had he asked him to play the box-to-box role he is used to playing.

He has bags of potential, Tim just overplayed him last season when he was still getting used to the Premier League. Credit to him for giving the lad the chance though.

(y) Ok, gottit Tim, thank you... Anything else? Like providing Brighton with a reference? Many of us would be happy to oblige....

You could say that any player at the club needs to be played to aid their development. Sherwood played him in plenty of games when he clearly wasn't the best person for the job though, which is not good for development, IMO.

For once I'm happy that you now have to go to another site to read the article. I have no more interest now in the crap that prick vomits out than I did when he was our manager. Exercised my ability to ignore this one.

You don't have to insult anyone for that. He is insane. I've long since ignored him.

Well, when he finally actually explained why he gives out dislikes like they're hot cakes, I discovered it's apparently if you insult our own players or give players rude nicknames. Seems like he can't keep to his own rules. I would ignore him, but sadly that doesn't stop him from being able to read and rate my posts. Need an option for that really

And right on q, there's @davidmatzdorf with the dislike. I haven't insulted anyone or used petty insults so you're breaking your own rules

It was a content-free pop at our former manager. You didn't actually say anything. You just made a contemptuous post 'at' Sherwood, as if he was reading your post. It easily fits my criteria, because there was no argument, just a petty snipe at Sherwood, whose comments were made in a column he is paid to write.

I find your habit of making random 'retaliation' dislikes or spam ratings on my posts on other threads very childish.

How is that a pop at him? I said if someone takes him on as manager, then maybe he should loan Bentaleb considering he rates him so highly and thinks he needs to continue playing to develop. I then stated that otherwise, maybe he shouldn't be giving our new manager, who has more experience in the game than him, advice on who to play.

Not in any way rude, and didn't require any further explanation, was a simple comment.

Also, I couldn't care less if you don't like my ratings. I don't like yours. If you rate my comment, then i'll click on your profile and read some of your comments. If I don't like what I read then guess what, I'll also use the reps :)

Why waste precious time over a mad man. I don't care two hoots even if he negs me a thousand times.

It's a pop, Lufti.

"if anyone ever takes you on as manager" - a pop
"in your next managerial position" - not a pop

Do you see how that works?

And what's with you and @chinaman hating on davidmatzdorf? He is prone to not suffering fools but his contributions on football are vastly superior to your combined outputs, as I'm sure most would agree.

I care more about having respect for other peoples reasoned opinions. Plus I don't necessarily agree that "if anyone ever takes you on as manager" is a pop. There are more respected managers than TS still long time out of work.

It wasn't a pop, who's to say anyone will take him on? No guarantees and he might not even want to become a manager at another club. Stop trying to tell me what I wrote. Also, if his contributions are far superior then why have I got way more ratings with a lot less posts? Go figure.

What it actually boils down to, is, those who love Sherwood teaming up together and down rating me because I didn't sign his praises. Either that or you're a member of the davidmatzdorf fan club
