Well to be honest, if he has a better quality of player to play instead of the ones he is dealing with now it wouldn't be hard. I would play any of our injured centre halfs in front of what we are playing at the moment. And a bit tweaking in centre mind and out wide would help even a shit manager.
Just curious, have you seen anything from Sherwood that says he'd do better if no one was hurt? I sure as hell havent. Its like he is putting together a team from picking out of a hat and telling them to go on the field and play. No tactics, no control. The product on the field is an absolute mess.

Don't understand some of our fans. I didn't want us to sign avb. Thought that he would alienate some of the players and even said it on here. But once he signed i supported him. I never once slagged him off even after the city and liverpool games because he was our manager and we as fans need to support our team and manager.
I just don't understand the abuse sherwood is getting. The team are struggling now more than ever we need to get behind them. Abusive comments and booing the team will only make the players want to leave. There will be nothing positive to come out of it. Players who don't want to be here will not play 100% and results will suffer more.

So go ahead, slag sherwood off and boo the team. But understand you will be partly responsible for our decline. Even avb said that part of the reason our away form is better than our home was due to the fans.

Every positive thing you said I said it first and anything that makes me seem like a bigger fan...

(Not even sure why I'm laying into you bcos I think I generally like your posts, I think, it might be bcos we've got TS as manager and we may as well have a laugh for the rest of the season!)

Agree with all this mate. But for me, although it may of been part of it for sure, I think we were much more suited to play away from home with the players we had - way more. It was the same last season as well. More space to attack on the counter, very good ball winners etc

The main reason I think we did so well away from home was because AVB was in his element when countering a team with a known set-up. It meant that the team would react to the opposition, which allowed AVB to study his opponent's tactics and identify weaknesses to exploit. He did it brilliantly most of the time.

At home, however, was obviously completely different. Throughout last season I felt we lacked any sort of identity of our own. Instead of imposing our own style of play and identity on a game, we looked like we were still trying to account for the identity of our opponents.

It carried on this season. We just didn't look like a real team with its own style and strengths. In short, we tried to be the away team all the time.

Has anyone considered that the manager might not actually be the main problem we are facing. AVB's tactics were negative but Sherwood's more attacking lineup against WBA showed little change in chances and performance.

.. Maybe it has something to do with the massive upheaval of our squad. Very little English core setting the rules and standards/culture in the club, Lennon being our longest serving player(is this correct??) not exactly a leader, plus no one knows anyone so no close relationships all resulting in our disjointed play.

Whoever we brought in might of had to wait until the summer before things settled down and players built relationships that help to build team spirit and unity, which should allow greater understanding of player movement resulting in a flowing football that is expected with the players we have.

Usually you have one or two players joining a squad and learning to adapt to the squad style, currently we have it upside down where a large group of players are trying to adapt to the team style (3/4 that are left) when there is actually no current team style to adapt too…

The best opportunity I feel would have been to hire someone with experience to deal with this, not Sherwood, but we have him now and will support him until he proves me wrong or unfortunately fails to achieve this massive opportunity he has carved himself.

He proved me wrong September 2012. On the field, he proved me wrong the second his first team sheet was released. Which resulted in what might have been the ugliest football we played all year which we are still playing now, 3 matches later. No ball control and no control in attack. Ugliest, disorganized, and least tactical football I have ever seen. Sherwood OUT!

Just read up to the point where they started going on about how good sherwood's decisions have been. Was there any more managers mentioned, apart from a manager who was involved with the senior set up (Mourinho) and Guardiola (who was working with a senior team in the lower leagues of spain)

Seriously, any article that tries to say that it wasn't a mistake to sack AVB and hire a manager with no experience, and starts by mentioning that AVB is an example of how it can be successful to appoint a manager with no experience, should set alarm bells ringing.

I'm neither pro nor anti Sherwood, and ignoring the fact his team selections are puzzling, you won't change how a squad can play after 3 games.

Try Mancini or Blanc, Wenger had one season as assistant manager on his belt. Jens Keller had season with U19 and season as assistant and so on. Though don't know why I bother writing when you're not even bothered to read.

And outside those managers on CL knockout stage one might try Pochettino (or various others, just taking someone who has been mentioned), took Espanyol job with no previous management experience (par season with Espanyols women team).
