I wish Sherwood would stop 'advertising' his fears as to who may leave. Its like offering your best players to whoever wants them. He knows he wont be here after the end of this season, so he wants to take the club down, strip it of its assets.

I sometimes wonder whether some of you actually read what you write and consider how much of a fuckwit it makes you sound.

One of many problems I have with Sherwood is he seems a very ruthless man in the wrong way.

He will do all he can to persuade Levy to rip up half of the squad and sell most of our better players. It will be another season of ridiculous change from what i'm hearing from Tim which is the exact opposite of what we need.

I agree with him that we actually need some Premier League experience. Evra and Lescott would be good in that respect, but the way he seems to want to go about it through his reported dislike of a few of our foreign signings is completely wrong. Soldado, Paulinho, Chiriches, Holtby, Capoue and Lamela need to be given another season without doubt and my fear is that many on that list will be shown the door. They are all very capable players. We should be adding 1 or two Premier League players, not selling 6 or 7 foreigners and signing another 6 or 7 'Premier League' players. That won't do us any good at all if it's stability we want, which seems to be the main argument of the pro-Sherwood group.

At the very least, his Eriksen comments were entirely gratuitous.

Keep your gob shut, Tim. Just for once. Please.

Who is he trying to sell ? Capoue I grant you seemed to be up for sale at Christmas and Holtby is out on loan which may not bode well for him but the others ? I've not read anything saying he wants them out ?

Soldado, Paulinho and Chiriches have all played under him and all been dropped or bought back in at various points but that would seem to be more form based than anything. Lamela is injured as far as I'm aware and has been for some time.

Holtby was a fairly devisive player on here with a fair amount of posters not being convinced so I'd only really say that Capoue could be argued to have been singled out for reasons unknown.

I should have perhaps been more specific on the players I mentioned.

-It was pretty well documented in January that Sherwood was not a fan of Holtby & Capoue.

-There have been strong rumblings that Sherwood is not keen on Lamela. Yes he is injured (or is he?) but Tim hasn't sounded overly reassuring when he's speaking about him, saying 'the jury's still out' etc. That's true to an extent but I thought it was strange that he didn't talk up his talent and be definite that he is a key part of the future of THFC.

-Substituting Chiriches at HT and then dropping him for Fryers is quite suspicious as well. The whole defence had played poorly at West Brom and blaming Vlad alone seemed odd. Not saying there's anything in it but it was odd.

- His recent declaration that Sandro was not good enough. I can't see anything else but Sandro leaving now if Sherwood remains in charge. His tweet in response said it all about their relationship IMO.

-Vertonghen. This is more of a suspicion but I personally am not convinced that Sherwood is a fan. I think there is mutual dislike there and even if Tim didn't want rid I think Jan would want out.

-Jacob's ITK (earlier in this thread I think) also suggested that Tim would want rid of many of the aforementioned players.

-As for Paulinho and Soldado, that was more of a generalisation that these players need to remain another season. I don't think Sherwood would want rid of these two.

The point is, even if 3 of these players go, it's adding to the reinforcements we're going to need. We've got players who are simply not good enough that need to go as well and we're going to be left with a situation where there is great upheaval once again. We need a left back and a least one centre back as it is, without any outgoings.

All we need is a maximum of 3/4 signings. The squad as it is, is more or less fine.

How is getting the highest points total in a season of any manager in Spurs history, coupled with the highest win ratio for any manager in Spurs' history in a season, as well as achieving the best start to a premiership season, while breaking a European record failure?

DESPITE that, why was it so wrong to not to give him 'til the end of the season before making an evaluation, given we practically overhauled our squad?

Barca would be lucky to have him.

You really are having a laugh, and I will prove it. First and foremost, 72 points is not the record number of points in a spurs season in the top division. Football did exist before the premier league. Best Spurs start to a premier league season, but the double team has the record for the best start ever in the top division, and you choose to ignore this? You should be ashamed or you should understand our history.

Based on your intimation that a record number of points proves AVB is a good manager, does it also mean that Sherwood is better, after all he has a higher ppg than AVB with the same squad. Ppg of course doesn't mean much, but nor does the 72 points.

Getting the highest number of points in a season means nothing, most managers would have achieved that with the squad we had. AVB deserves no credit for the squad, he inherited it. We actually got 72 points despite AVB, not because of AVB.

As for the highest win ratio, I take it you include all the games against dynamo dollop, well that means nothing, counting wins against two bob teams is not really very honest is it, try counting games in the English top division only. Further statistics can tell you many things, but they need to be analysed. Take Keith Burkinshaw, he took over the season before we were relegated, took us down and back up again. He then built a team close to the best in the country. His win ratio isn't fantastic because he had to build a team over years, he didn't walk into a top four team. Burkinshaw did much more for our club than AVB, your stays would say he didn't. Stats are useless without analysis.

If it wasn't failure, why did he leave? Why did he leave Chelsea?

Which european record did he break? Beating two bob teams in a two bob cup? Great record that.

The only reason AVB will go to Barca is if his team are drawn against them.

I don't hold jacob as one of the best ITK, so wouldnt take much notice of that

Sandro and Capoue are fit. But Sherwood isnt playing them. As goes for Lamela. Only way to get in form is by playing. Sherwood should know that. I cant wait till he's gone.

Maybe acting sooner would have been the better choice, now with the rumours about Moyes. That is, assuming that LVG is our number one target.

Thoughts ? It's an article with a degree of balance that should probably merit a few pages of discussion. Reality ? It will get torn to shreds on some facile basis or ignored as it doesn't fit the SC "Sherwood Out" thread vibe.

Shame.

Doesn't need to be a shame rich. I agree with you that it is a good article and merits talking about.

So put your thoughts up here, there's enough level headed posters on here to produce a good discussion. Quote each other and the alerts will ensure you can skip the less savoury aspects of the thread.
